How to use the EZ-B V4 Info robot skill

The Synthiam ARC EZ-B v4 Info skill lets you view two important readings from your EZ-B v4 controller: internal temperature and battery voltage. These values come from sensors built into the EZ-B v4, so you do not need to wire anything extra.

What you will see in this skill
  • Temperature – The EZ-B v4’s internal temperature sensor reading. This can be helpful for monitoring operating conditions if your robot is running for long periods or is enclosed in a body with limited airflow.
  • Voltage – The current battery voltage being supplied to the EZ-B v4. This helps you know when your battery is getting low before the robot starts acting unpredictably (slow servos, brownouts, resets, etc.).
Before you start
  1. Connect your EZ-B v4 to your computer or device in ARC (using your normal connection method).
  2. Add the EZ-B v4 Info skill to your ARC project.
  3. Once connected, the readings will update automatically as ARC receives data from the EZ-B v4.
Battery monitor and LiPo protection

The battery monitor is built into the EZ-B v4. If you are using a LiPo battery, it is important to configure low-voltage protection so the battery is not discharged too far (which can permanently damage a LiPo).

Where to change LiPo battery protection settings

In ARC, open your Connection Control and then open the Connection Control Settings. That is where you can configure the LiPo battery protection options for the EZ-B v4.

After setting protection values, the voltage shown in this skill helps you confirm your battery is staying within safe limits during operation.

Troubleshooting
  • No readings / values not changing: Confirm you are connected to the correct EZ-B v4 in the Connection Control.
  • Voltage seems incorrect: Make sure your battery is connected properly and is the correct type/voltage for your setup.
  • Temperature seems high: Power down and check airflow, ventilation, and whether anything is overheating inside the robot.
