What about the 3D printer enclosures that are already available. They are probably cheaper than what you would spend on the IKEA box in the video above. They are portable as well and take up less workshop space.

Found this on youtube. Strain drive. It's a variation on the harmonic drive. The video at 14min is pretty cool to watch. James Bruton also has a similar video this week.
