Hey nomad my balancer charger(blue block) gets pretty hot too I think that it's normal.
When you plug the AC input the red light will always lit up to indicate there is power coming from the wall plug, once you plug it with JD there will be a green light to let you know your robot is being charged. After charging is completed the green light will go off this means your robot it's completely charged. The red light will still be on of course and the balancer charger will cool down
I am able to connect with my laptop, it was very easy, I even started making some dance moves on JD, butI haven't tried connecting to an android though.
From what I saw on the video I believe you get to chose your password, if you leave it open I don't think you have to put anything where it says security key

I did not put anything I didn't have to go there to connect JD
