Rolli+jd Configuration

Question

this one catsh my eye .i have a few questions.

will there be other colors availeble in the future. is it possible to ad a lcd in chest whit image/video what he sees. does the tail fit on the rover body shell

All Revolution robots have EZ-Bit connectors so you have a lot of options available with customising it. I believe there is an EZ-Bit connector on the rear of the Roli chassis so yes, the tail connects to it. There have been no mention of other colours however they can be painted.

I assume for the cables to go through which go up to any head or camera you attach

I May Be mistaken but i think its a slot to run the wires to the ezb. Also, i believe roli has 3 ezbit slots on the rear. as far as the chest goes, you'd have to cut out a space for the screen or design a body with the space for it and have it 3d printed. as far as colors go, i do think they are all white as of now but some people have 3d printers and we'll see some variety in the forums from that. aameralis (i hope i got that right) has already printed a blue mini six. it looks great IMHO. also im sure you could paint the parts any color you want.

Open Roli in ARC and look at the 3D design of him, it'll show everything you need to know. Scrap that idea, Roli has been updated since the ARC version from the looks of it.

You're looking at the "used bits". That just shows the bits that are currently in use. Click the "Library" button and that will show you what bits you can add. If you're just designing the body you could start a new project and just add the roli pieces from the library to it.

Be aware the roli body is an old version which looks like it supports the V3 not the V4 (at least on my PC)

You may want to check the library for updates. I started a project for my Roli from scratch and I had all of the bits I need. I wasn't going to make it public on the cloud yet because it's far from finished but I just put it up so you can look at it. Cloud>Incomplete Robots> Antron's Roli. The body is the older style but it didn't affect my design or plans. Quick note. My Roli, at this stage is configured for the parts I have/will have when Roli gets here. I've bigger plans for him I just need to save up for some more parts to get him where I truly want him. (And I'm trying to keep that sort of a surprise )

I used the Rover base in bodies to substitute for the treaded track. and put the rover cover on top of it. The body os the jd biped body.

Well, that's quite a plan you have there. I'm fairly certain that the JD-to-Roli body EZ-Bit isn't available yet, but maybe soon. (they probably still have the 3D model)

The JD body has two female connectors, and to make it worse the roli body has a female connector on the part he wants to click it on to. The robot in the picture is using a 3d-printed connector (designed by niek, if I remember correctly).

I've attached the STL file to this post. You can import it in the bit builder to use it in ARC. Most 3d-printer software also supports STL files. Adaptor.STL

You're going to have to 3D print a bigger chest aswell. As you may know, there are two servos cased inside of the chest that move the arms up and down.

@nomad To use the file in ARC you go to 'Project', 'Bit Builder' and click 'Add STL'. Since you don't have a 3d printer, you could use a service like shapeways and have them print it and ship it to you.

You can buy the Rover Body - shell and the Rover Chassis seperately and put them together to form the lower half of Roli.

You'll need the 2A motor controller and some form of power source to drive the motors.

You load the base with 3 (AA?) batteries, as far as what I can see in the picture.

If you buy the seperate chassis, yes. If you buy roli, he's powered off a LiPo.

I don't think so. The base (where the v4 clicks into) is supposed to be delivering power TO the ez-b. Again, I'm not sure about this. Maybe DJ or somebody else will chime in.

I'm sorry I thought that the waist/legs had the female and the body had the male. I knew the Rolie was female. @Niek Thanks for posting the adapter stl. Why isn't it in the library I wonder?

IF you watch the 25 or so minute intro video, (i don't remember where it is) halfway through the JD head goes from the v3 camera to the v4 camera. The JD head will have the EZ-B v4 camera, so you could have ordered it any day.

No matter what you will get the V4 head and camera... There would be no reason to sell the old head since JD is going to ship with version 4 of the EZB controller... Everything about JD, Roli and Six will be version 4, even the camera as well... Maybe you could retro-fit the EZb3 and old camera into an empty shell of JD, but that means buying just the ez bits and servos and putting in your ezb3 hardware yourself....

i dont have a v3.i ordered the v4 and i like that one cause the new camera is connected straight to the v4 . i do have the old camera.am just starting whit ez so i need lot off things.for now i have the v4 some servo 2 off each servo. some cables the radar sensor,batterie and case,the ttl bt chip.mp3 trigger.am looking for a secondhanded win7 ultimate too, here in belgium.
