The Ez Robot Wiki Page

Ok I thought this deserved its own thread. Keep in mind the direction of EZ-Robot and where its software is going. This way our wiki will support both older ezb models and future models and feature additions for ARC and SDK.

What this is : Im creating a page that will have links to important and useful information in the forums and a summary. The purpose is to make a hot list of common topics , mods ect that are generally useful. For example a thread where we plan to attend maker fair would have a short summary of dates location and whos going to be there and s link to the thread where this was discussed. This is just an example but it summarizes the information without searching through forum discussions that may be lengthy.

What this is NOT: This is not a place for discussions , starting new threads , promoting non related products or services. In no way will this replace the use of the forum. Just as we discuss or post important and useful info it may be posted on the wiki under the correct section with a summary and link to the place in a thread that was discussed.

If you have ideas for how this could be organized , ideas for section titles and what should or should not be on this page please have it in this discussion and if you want to avoid public scrutiny then email your suggestions to [email protected] - Josh S

It has not been set up yet. Im shopping for providers for the wiki or if I will buy a url. Looking at options. Any suggestions?

Any reason for not using Wikipedia?

Like this: reprap.org/wiki/Main_Page

Because we run accross the occasional problematic members or ez robot customers I want to filter submissions to my wiki. Many wiki sites wont allow this type because its considered a form of advertisement. So I went with google because its free and those kids at Google are good at what they do.

https://sites.google.com/site/ezrobotwiki/

This is the current link . Its empty right now.

Can you run actual Wiki type submissions/edits on a Google site, or will you need to be doing all of the data entry and we'll have a method to submit articles to you?

(I have a google site on my own domain, but haven't really done anything with it yet, so this is more out of curiosity than anything).

Personally, I don't think it needs a better URL, most people will bookmark it anyway

Hey Alan , I can set permissions for each sections allowing them to be free edited or edited based on your google account login. I figure I could just have a link that allows a submission to be emailed to a email box for the wiki and from there filter through what makes sense to add in and where. Naturally we may need to summarize some submissions. Im thinking of having the wiki sections expand and contract when clicked to make more information fit into a compacted page.

Can you do categories like Wall-E / Omnibot / Etc?
