For those who may not have read my Omni2k wheels thread, I am now offering reproduction tires for sale for the Omnibot Jr, Omnibot and Omnibot 2000 robots. Tires are sold in sets, available in a variety of colours and are available worldwide.

Are these tires "hard" or softer rubber with good grip. If they have more grip I could be interested

Hey Josh, these are made of a 60 Shore polyurethane rubber so are a bit harder than the silicone you recommended, so should be a little more hard wearing (Car tires are around 65 shore from what I could understand). I went with 60 shore as it still has a little bit of flex to each tread on the tire so should give a nice grip, whilst being really quite strong with not too much give that they slip off (I do have some 70 shore if you want even stiffer ones for outdoor robots, but it tends to come out a bit smoother, so not as suitable for indoor use I would say).

Good news, I've managed to find a grey pigment that works and it's pretty darn close to the original if you ask me  The cog is made of rubber using the pigment, whilst the band at the bottom, is an original tire (turned inside out so I could verify the colour easier).

Thats awesome..... so your making rubber gears now? Or is that a harder plastic to make back up parts ? I made some robie jr blue tracks a couple nights ago. I roll mine out flat to cast them.

Niice! I'm experimenting with a different blue as we speak. Whilst the ones I made for winstn60 are blue, they aren't as bright as I would like them (like yours). I'll put a picture up when they are done. The gear was just from a test mould I made casting the middle arm gear of the Omni2k to see if I could create some backups. I tried it with a solid casting resin, but it was just too brittle. So I used it to create the test casting in the grey as I wasn't sure if the pigment would work, so wanted to test it in a mould I wasn't too bothered about

Ok, here's the blue test  It's better, but I would still like it a bit lighter (it's kind of a royal blue). I think the problem I'm having is that the liquid rubber is naturally a browny / yellow colour, so I think this is darkening it up. I have some white I could mix in, but the goal is to find a pigment that works well on it's own so that I don't have to measure stuff and I can get a consistent colouring.

Fyi best mix ive seen for home made gears is fiberreinforced plastic. You can get liquid acrylic and shaved fiber and mix them together.

Hi Matt, what did you use for your grey treads? I have the silicone molds done (left the idea of silicone for the treads since my first molds were destroyed by the silicone for the treads - silicone on silicone got just stuck together). I had the chance to get the exact same material you used for your treads - just waiting for it to arrive here and I will start out making black treads for Omni 2k and Omni Jr.! Cant wait! Hey @won4all. I'm currently making some tires for other folk as we speak and I have a spare set of Robbie Jr tires if you are still looking? @mike looks like you are making some good progress. I found the same when I tried silicone, but this polyurethen rubber works perfect. The only thing I'm still struggling with is finding the perfect blue. I really want one like Josh's tires, but everything I try either comes out too translucent or almost black. I've not really got anywhere with gear reproduction yet, things have slowed down quite a bit (My wife has started working with me so all the robots have been relegated from the office Matt

Hello All, I need tire treads for my Omnibot 2000 as well. Seems this thread is old and not a lot of resources of places to get these. Plus I need new rubber pieces on the talons/claws on my Omnibot 2000. Any ideas out there? Thanks much!

If you have access to a 3D printer (and designer) you could use flexible filament and reproduce the wheels and gripping surfaces. Otherwise common waterproofing (rubber) tape + glue could be another possible solution.
