Question

I just received my EZ-Robot

When powered - I can see the EZ-Robot in my Wi-Fi list

But when selected - it will not connect

Airplane mode is "off" and Wi-Fi button is shown on

I running Windows 8.1

What am I missing

I'll refer you to the tutorial however I wont leave it at that. From the sounds of it you are doing everything right. There are no passwords, no filters, no special tricks to connecting to the WiFi network broadcast by the EZ-B V4. It should be just a case of select, connect, go. Are you sure you aren't connected? Does it report an error in Windows when you try to connect? Does it just time out? Or does it connect but put a small ! or * in the symbol? One thing to note is it will give a warning about limited network as there is no internet connection (at least that is what I read from others - personally I never connected my EZ-B V4 to my PC via WiFi, I changed the settings with my tablet). After you try to connect can you access the web page at 192.168.1.1?

What is really weird is that I can connect with the EZ-Robot with my Iphone as well as my work computer which is running Windows 7 My new laptop which is running Windows 8.1 - see the EZ-Robot in the WI-FI list - but will not connect - it states "Can't connect to this Network" I am able to connect my new laptop to my router Is there a security issue that could cause this - with my Norton? P.S. I purchased "SIX"

if can connect with your new laptop to home network. then you need to click on network settings then turn off auto connect for home network. then you, can connect to ezb with limited networking. j

Norton may be the problem (it usually is a huge problem for many other things - my advice, remove it and replace it for avast or avg - both are free and better). Try disabling Norton and trying to connect. My Acer tablet runs full blown Windows 8.1 and connects without issue so it shouldn't be anything to do with it being Windows 8.1 There is no security on the WiFi broadcast from the EZ-B V4 so there should be no reason why it cannot connect if it can see the network.

Avast is good. You could try to connect with a phone or other device to the ezb v4 wifi network, and then connect to the 192.168.1.1 webserver. It would then allow you to configure the v4 to connect to your network from your phone. I have configured a couple of the v4's that way.

Hey guys, We saw the same issue with Avast on a laptop here in the shop today, we disabled the anti-virus software and could connect no problem after that.

I appreciate the help on my computer issue - I had several of my IT friends try resolve the issue with my lap top with no success

I fixed the problem by buying a new computer

Why is it weird? The EZ-B V4 transmits a WiFi network. There is nothing to stop any WiFi enabled device from connecting to it - I could connect my heating thermostat to it if I tried but it would be pointless as my heating thermostat can't control the EZ-B V4.

As rich said, the ez-b makes a wifi network, so the iPhone can conect to it. He cannot control the robots sensors and servos, but he can see the web server on the ez-b.

Think of it as connecting your computer to your ez-b without ARC. You can connect over wifi and change settings in the web server, but without ARC you cannot make the bot move.

The same applies to the iPhone/iPad etc. It will connect but there is currently no app to control the V4. Lack of an app will not stop connection to the WiFi network broadcast.

@Nomad.... Read Rich's reply.... You don't need an app for one wifi device to connect to another wifi device... Again, all he did was connect.... since there isn't an app available he really couldn't do much else after that....

The confusion is coming in with how Nomad was connecting to the V4. He was doing everything through the app, including connecting to the network. Nomad, when we were talking, I had you use your android phone to connect to the V4 outside of ARC. It took a while to find the Settings and then Wifi Networks option on the phone. This is what Rich is talking about. Connecting to the EZ-B V4 from outside of the ARC app. Once connected, you could go to the web server on the V4 through a web browser and see the settings on the V4 for the network. I also had you play some sounds through the v4 from the web page. This is what he was able to do so far.

This was from his android and not his pc. his pc hasn't been able to connect to the v4 at all. When configuring the v4 to connect to the network, it cant connect and the android can using the same settings. I also tried with the PC and a separate nic that he had and it couldn't connect either in ap mode, but could connect to the network using these same settings. All firewalls were disabled and the norton web stuff was disabled. Still nothing from the PC. We tried his second V4 and his had the same issues. The goal is to get the V4 on the network in client mode, which the access point that he purchased is know to be fine with the V4, along with the PC. At that point, he will be able to see the V4 from the PC. New and old dont always mix well, especially when one of the two is locked down and you cant see it. The access point is locked down by the service provider. a new access point that isnt locked down by the provider will allow us to make it work. The old access point is old and should be upgraded anyway (only b mode wifi).
