Going For A 1/16 Tank Base For Robot - Pro's And Cons ?

After messing around with Servos, Cogs and home made tracks for "Bob" the last 2 weeks I've decided to give in to the idea of a RC 1/16 Tank Base. I was impressed with Dogbots mobility and they seem to have a low centre of gravity and move pretty good outdoors."Bob" weighs about a 1 kilo so I'm guessing it should be able to move...

Selecting A Servo For A Project

here is info i am using for many years for my robots off the servo city site Servo power is stated as ounce-inches (oz-in.) This is the maximum amount of power the given servo will apply with a one inch arm. For example, if a servo has a power rating of 16 oz-in, the maximum amount of power it will be able to apply with a 1" arm will be 1 lbs....

Using Continuous Servos As Drive Power Polulu Power Hd 240 Oz On Servo

Ok so I'm thinking of ideas like using servos for drive , mostly because they are easy to replace or upgrade , and I already need to cut out the bottom of Jarvis base to fit the vacuum power head. If I did one servo per wheel that's 480 oz in torque per side. Is this enough to scoot around a 50 pound robot? On carpet? I do have the option to use...
