Mecha Morphix Robot Platform

Learn robotics as you build. Course includes hours of detailed video instruction on 3d printing, assembling, wiring and programming your robot head with a detailed BOM for parts and materials. The course will guide you through the completion of the robot head ALAN, but the online store will include many new modular parts like heads, necks and shoulders to modify your robot into new characters. One platform unlimited robots.

Programming

The course will include starter ARC presets to zero out servos etc. As long as you build and follow the instructions, my templates should get you up and running right away. Then as you learn more about ARC you can add or remove functions.

Parts & Materials

You will build using proven controllers like the EZB, IO Tiny, Arduino and ESP 32s as controllers for servo motions LEDs and camera/vision.

You'll need various tools including a 3D printer to produce the plastic parts, use of soldering iron, heat sinks, standard tools like wrenches etc. If you are a DIY builder you will have alot of the tools and parts needed.

Nice! I bet ppl would also respond well if they saw the robots staged in real-world situations. Like if it's on their desk, talking to it instead of Alexa. Or if it's on a kitchen counter, etc. Or classroom. Wherever you'd see them being used. I really like the updates!

Wow! I can already see an update to the course. The course is very ARC centric. So this will be an update class! I’ve been excited about this since you announced it.

We’ve pushed again. So hopefully early October.

@fxtst , Will, I'm really excited for you and proud to have been able to watch this brainchild of your grow. It seems like it started from a simple robot head you dreamed up. I think you started animating and building towards this point back with EZ Robot? YEP, now it's ARC and it's been a long time. You've worked towards bringing your dream into a full fledged robotic powerhouse and learning tool. Nice work brother! Now I'm going to have to finally do what I've been threatening to do and invest in a 3D printer so I can hang out in your world again. I know you've worked hard on this for a long time and your brilliance and ingenuity is really inspiring.

@DJ, It's really good to hear ARCx is close to beta release. This is something I was really looking forward to using. I thought it was dead in the water and would never would see the light of day. I'm so glad I was wrong. Thanks for the peek. Looks like you've been working hard on getting this to us. We haven't seen much of you around the forum like in days past. I thought you had retired and were spending your days fishing in those cool, clear waters in those lakes of the Canadian wilderness.

@dave, I’m excited for you to enter the world of 3d printing. You’ll be entering in a time when most of the bugs have been squashed. A lot of printers are plug and play. The fiddling comes in when things go wrong.. but now when they do it’s usually one of 4 or 5 things to check on the machine. But my Bambu printers print endlessly without intervention.

@fxrtst , currently I'm pretty sure I'd be going with a Bambu printer. I see they have a number of models with various features and a wide price range. I've always had a theory that has worked well for me. That's that I need to buy the best, with the most, that I could afford and I'd never be disappointed. I see their top model looks amazing but prices are high and hard to pin down and confusing. I guess it depends on the accessories. I need to do more research and asking questions to people like you and others for advice. I don't want to spend money on something with features that I will never get to use.

One quick question Will. Forgive if this has been asked already. What model Bambu printer are you using and do you regret not getting a different model?

@dave you don't need any of the fancy add ons like the AMS which is for multimaterials . This will print what you need, right out of the box. $399 P1S. I purchased this model and it prints fast and accurately. I did add an AMS later but to be honest I do not use this add on very often. Other versions they sell have a touch screen on the front. It is more user friendly to have the touch screen, but you can control the P1S from your computer or phone using their app. That model is ...you guessed it the P2S...base model is $549, so that screen is $250 more. image.png
