Watch a fully simulated 3D rover inside ARCx that responds to servos, digital/PWM ports, lidar and camera — no hardware required.
This video walks through the Virtual Robot skill in ARCx: a 3D rover you can orbit and zoom, with working ultrasonic, lidar, infrared, a camera video source, servos, digital I/O and physics. The clips show sensor readings, bumper and potentiometer inputs, servo motion, LED toggles, wheel driving with collision physics, lidar scans from the top view, and the camera used as an ARCx video source.
Because the Virtual Robot answers the same port reads and commands as a real EZ‑B robot, your scripts, Blockly projects, navigation and vision routines run unchanged. Use it for classroom demos, hands‑on learning, or to develop and test a project before the hardware arrives — and later connect a real robot to run alongside the virtual one as a live digital twin.
Walk through ARCx’s Virtual Robot Designer: 3D parts tree, joints mapped to servo ports, sensors, CAD import and templates — build and test a robot in the browser.
This clip also shows the Virtual Robot Designer inside ARCx. See the parts tree with joints attached to parents, sensors and cameras mounted on parts, live 3D orbit/zoom, joint previewing, and devices wired to EZB ports. We add obstacles, import STL/OBJ meshes, and use built-in help and templates to switch a rover into a robot arm with one click.
Because each joint records the servo or motor port and the servo-to-angle mapping, the virtual robot follows the exact same commands you’ll send to the real hardware. That makes ARCx useful for testing, teaching, and iterating designs quickly without waiting for hardware to be assembled. (Note: the edits in this clip were cancelled so the saved project remained the original rover.)
