So far I have not shown any of my projects here. This is changing now with ERNE the emotive robot.
ERNE was developed to observe the interaction of humans and robots. ERNE is an original project by Chris Wu. Thankfully he shared the 3d printing files for ERNE on Thingiverse.
The robot has ten micro servos for facial animation and two standard size servos for head movement. To control the robot I use an EZ Robot controller and camera.
At first people react skeptically and then start to play with ERNE. And although ERNE has no voice at the moment, many even talk to him!
For more information please visit Chris Wu`s website
You can find the Thingiverse project here

Hi Mel, thanks for the update. I think of you time to time and wonder how things are in your world. I had hoped they were better than what you describe but I guess that the fact that you have lived when expected to pass is actually pretty good. Seriously though, I'm sorry you are having such trying health issues. Getting old truly sucks. Hang in there old friend and keep your head up.
You're a talented robot builder with a keen mind for this stuff. Please find a way to keep creating life from metal and electricity. I hope your wife sees how important this path is to you and starts supporting your need to tinker and play. This kind of activity keeps our minds young and helps the body stay strong. If nothing else keep a conversation going with us here about your visions and questions.
@Dave,
Thanks Dave. God Bless You.
When I quit, (mandatory after I had a bad fall on top of my tools) I got rid of ALL of my stuff. I moved into another apartment Where I did not have a dedicated workshop. Now, it would be the kitchen table(sucks). I have no parts at all. I guess I could look at this like a fresh start.( I won't have my non-working parts mixed with my new parts that I would have to buy.)
My heart is really into it. But I will have to overcome some obstacles like wife, money.
I will give it serious thought.
@Chilonivm,
I really like your erne. I would like to have another build with erne's head and a body and a chatbox (Alexa or something like that.) You did a GREAT job on that!
Very cool robot, good job, I like the facial expressions.
