I wonder if that was state imposed. I haven't had to pay any taxes on my orders but it has been a while. I know the electronic components that I have ordered haven't been. I do have to claim them on my taxes, but haven't been hit at the time of the order.

Hmm.. I had it delivered to my office in DC not my house in Maryland, so maybe it is a DC thing. I had assumed it was some dollar value threshold because none of my smaller orders have had customs charges, but I think all have them have also been sent to my home.

looks like it is charged on orders over $800. you got me curious so I did some reading up. it does say that the states can also charge so if under $800 it might have been DC. it wouldn't surprise me at all.
