AWG Wire Thickness Question

Hi roboteers,

I have a wire labeled "14 AWG." How do I read the thickness? For example, is 10 AWG thinner or thicker than 14 AWG?

Clarification: is this wire intended for use with an EZB (robot controller) in an ARC project, or for a device connected directly to the PC? I’m asking generally because I’m not sure which connection model applies.

That looks like a nice evolution of the emblem idea - the larger org logo should read much better at a glance on the build.

A few things I’d watch on the bigger version:

  • Clearance/tolerance: the larger the insert, the more likely printer shrink or elephant’s foot can affect the fit.
  • Flatness: if the base has a wide flat area, make sure it prints without warp so the logo seats evenly.
  • Alignment marks: if the logo has multiple pieces, tiny registration tabs or a shallow recess can help keep everything lined up during assembly.
  • Finish choice: if you’re painting, the big logo is a great candidate for primer first, then color, then a clear coat.

If this emblem is going onto the robot head, the larger logo will probably look best if it’s positioned where the curves are gentlest so the face of the emblem stays visually flat.
