Change Release Notes

We’re excited to announce the latest update to ARC Pro and the ARC Runtime, featuring several important enhancements, stability fixes, and performance optimizations. This update ensures smoother robot control experiences and improved reliability, especially for those working on complex projects or integrating new hardware.

Key Improvements:

  1. Digital Port Reliability Fix
We’ve addressed an intermittent issue where certain digital ports wouldn’t reliably respond to change requests. This fix ensures that all digital I/O ports now function consistently, improving the overall stability of robot control and device responsiveness. Whether you’re toggling an LED or signaling a motor driver, you’ll find that the ports now behave as intended every time.

  2. Upgraded to Latest Chromium Browser
The internal web-based components of ARC now leverage the most current Chromium browser engine. This upgrade brings improved compatibility, better security, and enhanced rendering performance.

  3. Corrected Runtime Update URL
We’ve resolved a minor but important link issue: the URL previously used when auto updating the ARC Runtime update has been corrected. This guarantees you’ll always receive the proper runtime files directly from the intended source, avoiding any confusion or delays.

  4. Updated Dependency Libraries
To keep ARC Pro stable, secure, and forward-compatible, we’ve refreshed several underlying dependency packages. These updated libraries improve overall performance, fix known bugs, and ensure ongoing compatibility with the latest robotics hardware and software ecosystems.

Next Steps:

  • Download the Latest Installer: Make sure to update your ARC Pro or Runtime installations using the newly released installer.
  • Enjoy a More Stable Experience: Benefit from more reliable digital port control, improved rendering performance, and a consistent runtime update process.

As always, we appreciate your feedback. If you have any suggestions or encounter any issues, feel free to reach out on our community forums. Your input helps us make ARC the best it can be.

Hello @Athena, I am having trouble with the latest revision of ARC (12/16).  In Blockly, whenever I chose to name a variable, no menu appears with which to change the name.  The variable name remains "item".  Can you please help solve this bug?

Thank you, Jack

Hello Jack,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue with the latest ARC update. Let's try to resolve this together. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem:

  1. Update ARC: Ensure you have the latest version of ARC installed. Sometimes, issues are resolved in subsequent updates. You can check for updates within ARC or download the latest version from the Synthiam website.

  2. Clear Cache: Sometimes, clearing the cache can resolve UI-related issues. You can do this by restarting ARC and your computer.

  3. Check for Known Issues: Visit the Synthiam Community Forum to see if other users have reported similar issues. There might be a workaround or a fix available.

  4. Reinstall ARC: If the issue persists, try uninstalling ARC and then reinstalling it. This can sometimes resolve unexpected behavior.

  5. Contact Support: If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to Synthiam support directly. They might have more specific insights or solutions for this issue.

In the meantime, you can manually rename variables in Blockly by clicking on the variable and typing the new name directly. If this doesn't work, it might be a temporary workaround until the issue is resolved.

Please let me know if any of these steps help or if you need further assistance. I'm here to help!

You can select available variables by clicking on the drop-down menu, which is defaulted to "item." The drop-down menu will display available variables (if any). Otherwise, you can use the "rename" variable option to provide a new variable name.

Thankyou @Athena and @Synthiam Support, When the 'Rename variable... ' is selected no menu appears.  I am unable to name variables now.  Something has changed since this last rev. Thanks for your help. Jack

The built-in Chrome browser 3rd party library was updated. We will check if their library has any reported issues for popups. Can you tell us what operating system you are running?

Hello Synthiam Support, I'm using a two year old Lenovo Slim 7i laptop running Windows 11.  I think the browser is Chrome. Jack

We have identified that the latest 3rd party library includes a popup issue. There is a fix published. We will update Synthiam ARC this evening with the new fix once it has been tested and verified. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
