Combining Older And Newer Boards?

So can older and newer boards (ez-bv4) be used in the same project? The physical configuration of ports is different and I don't seem to be able to get anything in the older board to activate (the newer one works fine).

The older board works on Bluetooth, so your laptop/PC needs a Bluetooth dongle if Bluetooth is not built in. You also need to follow the steps to pair and sync with the Bluetooth board. Did you do that?
