My favorite Sci-Fi flick has to be A.I. Artificial Intelligence. I really enjoy it because it seems like a plausible future for intelligent robots. The interactions between David, Teddy, and Gigolo Joe are intriguing and curious as these rogue robots search to find purpose as they execute their own free-will. To me it feels like building a small boat and watching it float down a bubbling stream. You just sit and watch this artificial creation as it navigates through different paths and obstacles and you just enjoy watching where it goes on it's own until it drifts from sight.
I'll say Interstellar for the sole purpose of grinding DJ's gears! He hates that movie!
Is a great movie production. It's a roller coaster a lot of Physical concepts, emotions, drama, action, thriller all condensed. I felt a little nauseous after.
@Toymaker Cool! I will definitely have to check that movie out!
@Nomad 6R Which Star Trek Movie? #1?
@ptp Well Said!
Whenever I think "favorite" it almost always ends up being a childhood movie- by virtue of number of watches if nothing else...otherwise my favorite seems to change based on mood.
So I guess if I go by that criteria- "Batteries Not Included" , "Akira", or "Spaceballs"- which I have probably seen more times than any of the Star Wars movies
But seriously! How cute were the babies! eekeekeekeek
"Favorite" and "most influential" would be how i would describe my choices. The film that impacted me as a kid was Forbidden Planet. The story was amazing and the effects were killer for the time...and there was Robbie the robot.
But most influential was Star Wars the New Hope. I saw it at the drive ins at 13 and it created a path that pushed me towards film and make up effects.
I loved all the sci fi films like Silent Running, 2001, Blade Runner, Alien.
Silent Running thanks to the amazing robots Dewey, Huey and Louie!
Score 5 out of 5!

Jokes aside, I've always been a huge The Fifth Element fan. There are some flaws with the flick, but a solid 4/5 in my books
I hope I don't steal @DJ's

Hahaha - oh geez, Alan... I somehow expected that
Jeremie is right, i would have picked A.I.... IF that was indeed my favorite sci-fi movie
I'm guessing we have to select a sci fi movie with a robot? If that's the case... hmmm, can i get back to you?
