Ez-robot Revolution Shipping Update

Well, many of you have been wondering when we will be shipping EZ-Robot Revolution? It has been a very fun time designing the Revolution robots over the past year. I'm very excited to see what amazing inventions you will create with EZ-Bits and the EZ-B v4. There have been a few changes to the robots recently, and the EZ-Bits STL's will be published online in the EZ-Cloud shortly. The Store will also reflect the changes to the parts - as you know, our EZ-Robot Team has been 110% full throttle for many months.... So please be patient with us :)

Preparing parts for manufacturing has been a very interesting and educational experience. Finding manufacturing companies, logistics companies, quality control companies, etc... Negotiating pricing. Trying to find North American manufacturers - learning to negotiate with overseas manufacturing. The list goes on, and on, and on. Are we an expert yet? In my books, you're an expert when you accept that you're not an expert.

Whoa, that was deep! Enough about philosophy, onto the good news... Watch the video for the update :) Oh, and dancing robots!

@stibaer... Yeah, as Rich said... Any price increase would be bad, anyway... If you are worried, just buy now...

I don't think they will be any day as the ABS parts aren't finalised for manufacture according to Jason, but an update would be good. Really nice if we had an update before the team head off for the weekend as it's frustrating all the silence and no one from EZ replies to forum questions about it.

We don't need you to do a vid .... Just a quick post is cool DJ

Pretty please !

It would just be nice for the EZ team to comment themselves .... They do answer other threads but seem to pass over ones when their valued customers ask for shipping updates. That can be really frustrating and could even appear rude - and I know that's certainly not their intention.

It's not too much to ask for honest updates and it's always good customer care to advise your customers when you are unable to deliver to the timescales stated when their order was placed. There are often understandable delays with new product launches and whilst I'm sure the EZ team would be the first to agree that it would be preferable for there not to be, it's a fact that the kit just isn't ready yet. Getting angry or as some people have done cancelling won't make it any quicker, but communicating clear dates would at least let folks know when to expect what they have paid for. No amount of debating could refute that.

Well, I do understand the silence. What seems a lifetime ago but actually about a year ago EZ Robots announced a new EZB and pined a date for release. That date came and went and EZ Robot looked bad and had to give embarrassing excuses why the "new" and never seen before "amazing" new high performance EZB Mini board wasn't ready for shipment. Seemed the EZB Mini wasn't going to live up to expectations. We were all very disappointed because we had been waiting so long but thank God DJ pulled the design and redesigned the product and expanded it into Revelation. I think they learned a very good lesson to not promise a set delivery date when your at the mercy of other companies production schedules and new technologies till the product is actually on the shipping dock.

Actually I disagree. They already have given a deadline to those that weren't around when the previous issues you mentioned arose. It is the 5-7 week delivery commitment that they made when we placed our orders. For most that has or is about to have passed, so silence isn't understandable at all. Thry then stated it was March but subsequently suggest that won't be the case for many but no more information after. They are not at the mercy of another company's production schedule. For any company that engages a third party to manufacture for them, it is the company that appoints the third party that makes the choice and accepts the liability for managing and outcome of that decision. In business that is why you sign contracts and have terms and conditions upon placement of order. Performance SLA's are set to ensure that not only quality but lead times are met and it is the job of the person placing the contract to manage this. Delays do happen, but that doesn't absolve a company from talking to their customers and being honest about when products they have paid for will be shipped. Burying the head in the sand has never been a customer service model that has outperformed good communication and I don't believe that EZ would disagree with that either.

I hate this, I feel as though we get accused of being unfair in simply asking for a short update to explain what's happening.

All the best,

Jay

Ps I'm stepping out of this now until I get a response from EZ. I didn't start this thread an don't want to have such forum discussions anymore as EZ have stated that they often miss these comments and I have already sent them an email. It's just frustrating because what they reply on private emails to customers isn't communicated by them to the wider community and it should be.
