A Little Trouble

Hello! I am Chuck Walsh I am having difficulty following the tutorials. I started by downloading the latest versions both EZ builder and the firmware success on both accounts. I must admit that when guided to click on the examples button... I looked and said what examples button? After playing with the menus I've discovered the tutorial's and the latest version of the program are not the same. Can I get the program version that matches the tutorial's? Or tutorials that match the new program? Thank you. I can see that the new program is meant to be cloud and share friendly. After setting up an account and down loading some apps I was able to control a servo on D0. Very cool. My goal is to control my servos with the Wii remote. can you help?

Hi Chuck, Unfortunately our tutorial videos havent been updated quite as often as ARC has. It is something that is on our To-Do list, we just arent quite there yet.

As for adding the Wii controller, is it safe to assume you have gone through the Wii tutorial? https://synthiam.com/Tutorials/Help.aspx?id=154

As you mentioned, not everything lines up, so I will do my best to help with some of the differences.

-Steps 1-4 are the same -Step 5: (Assuming you have a Project Open already) Go to the 'Project' tab and press the 'Add Control' button The go to the 'MISC' tab, then the 'Wii Remote' button If the first 4 steps are done correctly, you can hit the 'refresh' and the Wii remote should show up. That should be step 6, and continue on.

Hope that helps and I didnt miss anything, the Community here is a great help and always more then willing! Im actually a little surprised I was able to respond before anyone else! ha ha ha

Mark, Yes, I did look at the tutorial on the Wii remote including the video. Thank you for a quick reply. Your help was greatly appreciated everything worked great until it was time to control the servo connected to D0 with the Wii remote. No red dot and certainly no green dot. Any other ideas? Some other steps I'm missing?

Hello Chuck,

Welcome to the forums!

Here's a mini tutorial to get you going:

  1. On your version of Windows navigate to where you can add a bluetooth device, then click "add a bluetooth device"

  2. Push and hold the Wiimote '1' and '2' buttons at the same time until the controller LEDs start flashing (alternatively you can push the red 'sync' button under the battery cover)

  3. Your Wiimote should show up as "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01" in your bluetooth device list, click to add it.

  4. When prompted for a pairing code, don't enter anything, just click next to proceed

  5. Then just wait a few moments for the Wiimote to pair with the computer and you are golden

Now enter ARC and add the "Wii Controller" Control (under the Project tab -> add Control -> Misc) If your Wiimote is still on there should be a red dot in the control window. To configure some servos to control with it just click the little gear on the "Wii Controller" control window and then select your ports, change your max and min values and you are on your way.

I actually did all that before, however, still no control from the Wiimote. Does this still work with the new software available? Could you do me a favor and try it with newest version of EZ? Please let me know what results you come up with, thank you.

If the red dot moves, you need to press the home button. That turns it green.

Great information. Still having problems. My question is....... Will the red dot show up even if you don't have the remote activated? I have never seen the dot. So is this a software issue in ARC? Or is it still a Microsoft issue due to the remote timing out? Has anyone tried this with the new version of ARC?

Hi @robot2010

Just tried two different Wiimotes in the newest version of ARC one seems to work no prob but the other new version with "Wii MotionPlus Inside" doesn't seem to show up. Do you have the newer controller?

The only other thing I can think of is closing the "Wii Controller" Control window and then add it again to absolutely refresh it and see if that works.

Super, now we're getting somewhere. On the side of my Wiimote is CE 0125 ACN 060 566 083 FCC ID UMB-WCF7 IC:6719A-WCF7

If this is the issue.... can it be fixed in software? Or....

That's it! I remembered I had another Wiimote. It works very cool. Now we know the ARC will not work with all Wiimotes! ACN 060 566 083 FCC ID:POO-WC45 IC:4250A-WC45 works I guess you need the POO controller. Well thanks to all, and I hope my problem will help solve others with the same Wii Remote issues. Is it possible that the newer remotes use a different Radio communications protocol? I would love to hear from others who had unsolved issues and those that did not.
