A Robot Saw Christmas

Hi Everyone,

It's great to be a part of this fantastic hobby. This is my first post and my first project.

Each year my family looks for ways to honor Jesus at Christmas. Everyone participates in some way, from the youngest to the oldest (that's almost me!). We have done skits, made movies, played music, etc.

This year I made a robotic head (Gabriel) that can dialog with family members. Each person will ask Gabriel a question from a card they have been given. Gabriel will answer each question and in the process tell the Christmas Story (as he claims he saw it happen).

My 8 year old grandson wants to help with the next project which he wants to be a home security robot that can climb up and down stairs. Should be fun. Hope we can do it!

Here is a link to a 3 minute video I did of Gabriel answering the questions.

Not sure how the link system works. You may have to copy and paste into your browser the text from "http thru ...jLC".

I wish the creative founders of EZ-Robot and all of you a very Merry Christmas 2012, a Happy New Year 2013 and much fun with your robotic projects.

Just a quick note to thank you all for your complimentary replies. I intended to publish some pictures but the Holiday rush has me in it's grips. I need to get a few more things for my wife and shopping is not my strong point!

I'm looking forward to doing some neat EZ projects in 2013 and am enjoying seeing what you all have done and are doing.

Welcome to EZ - Robot steve! We usually end up on a first name basis here as we have a close yet open community. Im Josh S and I have been a member hear for about a year. Never hesistate to ask a question but be specific in the title of a thread so we can come back to your thread because of the unique title. I didn't get to see the video because I don't use quicktime as im normally on a android tablet. Hopefully you like to use YouTube;) if you load videos there I can watch. Merry Christmas - Josh S

It's me (Steve) again.

Thanks for helping me better adjust to this fellowship. I have a YouTube account now and will post future videos there. Here is the link for the "A Robot Saw Christmas" project.

I've looked at several of your projects and am amazed at all of your creativity and expertise. I'll probably be asking for some advice if my grandson and I do the Security Robot that climbs up and down stairs.

Fred, I'll probably have some questions for you about AI software if I create my pet dog robot. I want to make it as life size and realistic as possible. Not sure of the breed yet but I want to surprize my neighbors when I walk my dog and they are having to clean up their poop and I don't! :D I hope to find a realistic looking, animated, "toy" dog somewhere as my base platform.

Also, Fred, I'm glad you are not ashamed to state your stand with Jesus. He changed my life when I was 33 years old (I'm 70 now). In the years that followed I left my corporate job, got a theology degree and went into full-time ministry. I've traveled to many places in the world and witnessed to His love, grace and sacrifice for every person.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Have fun!

Steve

Hey Fred,

I agree that we should continue our personal discussion off this forum but cannot reach you at the email you listed... system says something like "undeliverable... no yahoo account".

Don't know any other way to contact you so please send me an email at steve70x7@cinci.rr.com so we can continue our discussion and be good forum citizens at the same time.

Thanks.
