Will the Xbox 360 Wireless controller for Windows work fine with ARC out of the box or will I need to program something custom for it?

Naw you don't need anything custom, just need to make sure you purchase the USB receiver dongle, install the proper driver for your setup and you are on your way. Check out this thread
