I am designing a mini robot system using ez robot parts. Before I actually buy a kit I wondered if it is possible to add lidar to the systems?

Yes, definitely any of synthiams supported hardware with uart can use lidar - this includes the ezrobot ezb v4. Check out the top 2 controls that were listed by the @AI Support Bot.
