Character Strings In ARC

I can find variables in ARC for playing around with numbers but not for playing around with character or variable string arrays....

Eg. MyName$="Burt" YourName$="Human"

Reply$ = ("Hello " + YourName$ + "I am " + MyName$)

Say (Reply$)

Can anyone help me? Or does this fall into the domains of VB or C#?

I would like to also know the answer to that. It must be you have to use VBasic or something like that.
