Hello,
I just recently bought the EZ-Robot Complete Kit and am really excited to play with it, but I am unfortunately having some issues with the camera.
The first issue is with the charging. The Mini USB port/cable is very sensitive and can't stay in without me holding it there and even then the red light won't stay on. I can't get it to stay charging unless I wiggle the cable around every 5 seconds or so.
Another issue is that it seems like I am only able to get one snapshot at a time from the camera. In the ARC software it only shows a single frame. Every time I close the video control and reopen it it will show an updated frame, but never more than one frame each time I open it. I do not believe this is an issue with the ARC software because I get the same results when I open the capture device in VLC. I have to stop and restart a connection to the camera each time to get a new frame, but I never get more than one.
As I'm sure you can understand, this is frustrating. I love the kit and love the software/SDK but am really struggling with this camera.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Steve
Sorry to hear that. Never have I seen the usb cable not charge the camera - that's a first! You can try the camera diagnostic here: https://synthiam.com/Tutorials/Camera%20Diagnostics.aspx
Otherwise, Contact Us and we'll replace it
We'll need your order number to ensure it's a recent order when you contact us
Hi DJ Sures! Thanks for the prompt reply! I did actually try taking the casing off the USB dongle as per the Camera Diagnostics tutorial and am having the same issue
It's very weird...I am able to get a frame from the camera, but if and only if I re-establish a connection to it--such as by changing the resolution in the ARC camera control or re-requesting a frame from VLC.
I would be more than happy to make a video showing my struggles with the charging issue and the single frame issue.
I hit send on the Contact Us form and get a "Warning: Technical Support?" Does that still mean it went through?
Thanks again for your help! I'm really excited to start playing with the kit!
I believe you
Use the Contact Us form and specify the Warranty Claim subject.
The technical support was in the middle of being removed when you used the page
Also, we don't accept any technical support over Contact Us - we only help with technical questions on the forum to share with others.
I also just received the wireless USB camera and I am having similar issues. The issue that I am having is that frame rate is about 1-2fps and the frame display changes on the screen once every minute or so. The image is also blurry and I can't focus it because the picture is frozen too long between frames.
I figured out what the problem is. Using the provided amcap software that came in the cd, I have the above mentioned issue. I tested it as a webcam using a chat program and it works fine. I think that the issue has to be with the software. Wanted to share this because steveabb was having frame issues.
The AMCap software is not part of ARC or have any relation to EZ-Robot. To use the camera in ARC, select Add Control->Camera and choose the Camera
Hey guys, it looks like I was able to fix my single frame issue. It had to do with my VM configuration--I am using Parallels 8 on Mountain Lion. I didn't properly share the USB receiver into my virtual machine properly. The bizarre thing was that I was only getting single frames on my host machine as well via VLC as well as in my VM (somehow); that is what confused me.
I blame myself for not testing on another machine or finding out about this sooner, so for that I apologize, but hopefully this clears things up for anyone in a similar situation.
In regards to the charging issue, it's not that big of a deal. I just have to squeeze the mini USB cable into the port on the camera a little bit harder and jiggle it around occasionally. But it charges fine for the most part.
Thanks again for the help everyone. Looking forward to playing around with everything!
Glad to hear it has been resolved Steve
Huge relieve for me!
VM's cost us a lot of money!
Almost every issue people experience is with either Non-Microsoft Bluetooth Stack or running in a VM. We handle a lot of warranty claims on product that is 100% working because the user doesn't tell us they are in a VM or says "yes" they are running Microsoft Native Bluetooth Stack when they're not...
I'm glad you figured it out
