Mentor Needed!

My grade 8 son is doing a full year project at school, and he would like to build a robot! One of the requirements is that he have a mentor that can help him though the process. At a minimum, this person could meet with him a few times between now and June, and be available via email or phone to answer any questions he may have. Obviously he needs someone who is knowledgable and is able to give him advice on how to proceed from start to finish. We will gladly pay you for your time! If anyone is interested please email me at kevin@winterfell.ca.

I am sure some one will be able to mentor your son. But if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask here we all would like to help.

Have you ordered the robot kit from here yet? its a good place to start. Then all you need to do is build a chassis. Or you can get one of the chassis kits too from here they are very good units. He can put it together and then start to program with the EZ-B

One of the best tools you can use is the internet and the fourm here. But all you need to start is curiosity.

Soon my robots and I will take over the WORLD! Well maybe the basement. That is if my wife lets me!

Thanks for the replies. Well he is definitely curious! The kids are able to choose any topic they want- there are no real guidelines other than it be challenging, and he wanted to do this. Yes there is a lot of good information here and on other sites- he has already been researching different styles and types of robots. Sadly the mentor is a requirement from the school, in order for the project to proceed.

@Lumpy that would be great. Send me an email to the address in the OP and I can give you some more details, to see if this would work for you. Thanks for the consideration.

Kevin,

I'll drop you a line today after work.

I'm in to Calgary somewhat frequently so it would probably work out.
