I'm going to have to go around and get the snow that's left into a pile!

Haha cotton balls work great as fake snow. ;)

Forecast for 6-8 inches of snow tomorrow for me... lol

@Technopro you live in Canada! There will be snow again by the New Year!

That does it , I'm spray painting the yard white... they didn't have enough cotton balls at walmart lol

How many entries can we have? I have a few different ideas and can't choose which to go for!..

P.S. It never snows at Christmas here so I'm not worried about snow, it's keeping JD and Six out of the liquor cabinet that's my main concern...

#14

We are going to do it a little bit different than the last one... you can submit as many as you like! :D:D:D

#15

Very merry Christmas to JD too, @nomad18.08:)

#16

Can't wait to see these videos! $200 in ez-bits is quite a bit. ;)

#17

I doubt it will be prize worthy, but I am working on something to represent Hanukkah. So far I made a device Roli can hold to spin a dreidle, and I am working out the frames and actions for lighting the Menorah and trying to convince my wife it is safe to let a robot play with matches;)

Alan

#18

haha @thetechguru that sounds AMAZING. I can't wait to see it! :D:D

#19

I also think I have figured out how Roli can tighten the bulbs in our electric Menorah to "light" it. Less of a fire hazard:)

Alan

Don't forget to post your Holiday Robot entries on the forum! If you've already posted, feel free to repost them here so that we can see them all together. :)

Unfortunately I may need to duck out of this one again since time has escaped from me, it's 10 days until Christmas, I haven't done much present shopping at all and, well, just wont have time. Not unless I can quickly find a small santa outfit that'll fit JD!..

Loving the videos so far though!..

#31

@Rich... Too bad, I was really looking forward to yours... Here's an idea for a skit, though.... Dress Melvin as "Bad" Santa (remember the movie with Billy Bob Thornton?)... Have JD sit on his knee annoying the crap out of him with his Christmas list....:P

#32

Can ww E enter more rhan 5mb in this contest confused

#33

@Rich See if ebay has a Santa you can borrow the suit from to dress JD. Might get fast shipping. Also a store may have the Santa you need.

#34

At walmart (or an equivalent store) they have little santa statues in all kinds of sizes, I'm positive a suit from one of those could fit JD;)

#35

It's like you guys are trying to loose! Everyone knows that if Rich got JD going we'd all be done! ;)

#36

@Technopro Love it! I burst out laughing when I saw the wolf! :D:D

You asked for it so I found some time tonight for a quick play. And @Techno, I thought I would give you all a chance so held back a little (if I get chance before the end of the year though you can expect an updated, more christmassy video:)

Shut up, Miley rocks! I almost put JD on a bauble and did wrecking ball...;)

#40

LOL... @Rich... I was expecting JD with a mini strat rockin' out to kiss or AC DC....:P

#41

Haha @Rich- love it! It looks like JD is rockin out on air guitar at one point. So awesome!

#42

MTX,for those who remember my test bot, is getting rush finished to play a part in my next video. wall-Es going to have some fun. Can't wait to get it made up!

Rich, great job for a "weak attempt". I think I may be outwitted by a JD, seeing as wall-E is my only contender right now.

Richard, how is your video/picture going?

#43

@Tech... at this point I only have ideas. Haven't put pen to paper so to speak... I am hoping to have some time by the end of the week to possibly work on something...

#44

Well there have been some great entries so far, so I thought K-9 and me would give it a go.

Enjoy. :D

We don't have any snow in the UK at the mo to make the video look more picturesque:(, but had to battle the rain that decided to poor down every time I took K-9 outside to film, which was fun. Anyway, I might as well take this opportunity to say happy holidays to everyone at EZ HQ and the community.

So many great entries! Wonderful job done by all! Merry Christmas!

#71

Wow @J, You put the EZB into the Xmas tree and the teddy bare? Nice work showing how flexible EZB can be and how easy it is to use it in different ways. You got my EZB vote! Please show us how you interfaced these two EZB Xmas entries.

#72

Ant is correct! But bear was only $6. THAT I picked up to do what Dave says. Tree got for $14. no shipping picked up at wallgreens.

Lol to the bank...

J:)

#73

I think the point of the x-mas contest is to use an ezb and or ez robot to show or highlight your programing and creating skills... Anyone can buy an off the shelf toy, but it defeats the purpose here.... After all it's EZ Robot, not Lazy Robot... LOL:P

#74

I was about to go "Bazinga!" but then realized I haven't even submitted a Lazy Robot.:D

#75

I have been working on my inMoov for the last 8 weeks or so... I was hoping to enter it in the x-mas contest.... Even though I entered the Halloween contest, I won't make the deadline for the x-mas one, however... reasons are...

  1. It's not finished (only about 75% done)
  2. Both @bob and @merne have entered an inMoov, so 3's a crowd :)

Rules are any robot, not just EZ-B. $200 in store credit could allow someone who can't afford an EZ-B today get one.

Alan

#78

@Alan, well then that just negates anyone one who has worked hard and built their own robot for the competition.... If someone wins because they purchased a robot off the shelf.... then well, why are we doing this again?

#79

@Anthony.... Awesome thank you.... "shopping skills" love it dude...:)

#80

@Richard R, I am just repeating the rules from the intro video, not making a judgement call. Just because other robots can enter, doesn't mean they meet the criteria to win... Which includes creativity.

Alan

#81

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to open a can of worms here. I can see both sides, EZ Robot wanting to get a EZB into the hands of someone who cant afford one and the rest who worked hard building for the contest.

Personally, I was discouraged and frustrated I could not make an entry. I wanted to enter but like Richard I've been working steady these past few weeks on a full size arm for my B9. I'm not sure how I would have reacted to a plastic store bought Christmas Tree winning over a EZ Robot powered robot I've been working on for 3 years (if I would have entered and gotten beat of course). ;)

In the end it's all for fun and the judging talent and creativity is subjective anyway. We're all adults here (except for the kids:P ) and need to except the rules and winner. ;)

#83

@Dave.... I am aware of what Aislin posted... However, I have (want) to believe it is implied that it is a robot that "we" create/program and/or make rather than just purchase and press the on button....

@Richard R,

I doubt any worries there. Also from the rules

The winner will be judged on creativity and originality

It doesn't need to be EZ-B, but it needs to be creative.

Alan

#86

Loving all the entries! There are still 5 days left in the contest so keep em' coming. It is great to hear all of your ideas as well. We really do want to focus on originality and creativity, and I know that there is no shortage of either in this community. This contest is meant for any robot platform, so the more the merrier! We all know that the ez-bv4 is the best, but for this contest we want to include everyone. For the most part the majority of the entries come from within the ezrobot community anyway!

We can definitely recognize entries that have put in an immense amount of effort- so don't feel it will go unnoticed. :D

#87

Well, with a surprising amount of work and a rather long "honeydo" list, it looks like I won't be getting a video done for this holiday season.

I'll work on it as time allows and publish before next year's holiday, contest or not.

Alan

#88

All my content is done, now it is being edited and sound effects added at a handful of points that really make wall-e personality:) Right now it is split into 8 different short videos but I certainly hope everyone loves it.

Run-Run Wall-E, Happy Holidays for all Ages

Please offer your feedback! I appreciate any support. If I had 3-5 min limit for the video I would have had Wall-E running through town, but we had to cut those parts out due to time limitations. Happy New year!

credit for the edit + music addition to Ant , thanks for helping a brother out!

My brother Alequa RIchardson either Que Wall-E, lit fire or other assistance for "spare hands" during the video.

There were so many great videos! We will have the results to you very soon. ;);)

:: twiddling thumbs with anticipation:: lol , Now that I put together wall-e I think I will continue to work on him. Maybe add a servo for tilt to the head and a V4 camera between the eyes. I really like blue glowing eyes though.:) maybe a lipo battery or something hidden inside instead of the external battery pack too.

It would be need to use him in making a few other videos too just for fun. Maybe downtown interacting with people.

I don't want to make anyone feel rushed or rude in any way , but it has been over a week. Did we forget about this this?

@Aislinn.

Thanks for what you said, and glad you liked it. I must admit I was a lil' bit gutted there wasn't a third place prize like the Halloween comp as there seemed to be more entries here, but I digress. An excellent choice was made picking the winners, and I still play back their videos to show my friends and family to show what this community is capable of.

Anyway I really enjoyed taking part, and look forward to the next competition. Well done again everyone. :D:D:D

#135

I'm sure 2015 year's competitions will be even better as EZ Robot gains more popularity! The next contest everyone be sure to spread the word on other forums and social media. A fun video can attract dozens or more new members to the community and possibly sales for EZ-Robot. I predict the next contest will be a dance off! I am sure Rich will give everyone a run for their money if he competes , but it is anyone's game! That's the beauty of EZ-Robot , it is the robotics "equalizer".

United Kingdom
#136

Josh, I already have a rough dance off video on youtube and since then it has been improved so yes, there will be competition and JD will compete in a dance off. In fact, JD likes to "throw it down" and enjoys being challenged:)
