Bobii Reborn From Frizby Bob

MovieMaker

USA

I decided to make a smaller test-bot. My wife said I could not buy or make any NEW robots. So, I took my BOB Frizby robot that was made from an Arduino apart and made an EZ-BOB. It is a little lopsided. But, I expect when I have time, I intend to square it up. It has red eyes that glow. There is a lesson to be learned here. I spent $5 plus for each blue LED. I was expecting them to hold up with 5 volts applied. But, they burned out quickly. So, I did not have the money to buy more, so I made him with RED eyes and put resistors in series to dampen the flow of current.

Without further Adoo, here is BOBII:

Do you not have crosstalk on the ultrasonic sensors down low? Or are they far enough away they Can differentiate each others signal?

Oh wow $5 a led , that thing better take 10 volts! Thanks to popularity of LEDs you may be able to get a bag of 100 LEDs from hong Kong for 5 dollars in the future. Just gotta wait a while to get here. He looks good , any videos of him navigating?

I haven't programmed him yet. Yeh, the LEDs came from RadioShack. They where blue and they were beautiful. Now he has evil red eyes. I don't like them as much. No problems with cross talk yet.

thanks for the reply, josh.

@MovieMaker, What are the 3 servos in front for? I thought they might be the locomotion but I see you have servos on the wheels as well.

Hey MovieMaker,
Your robot Bob is cool. You are very resourceful creating from your existing items. You must be controlling Bob from a separate notebook or PC. You are a true robot builder who will not be deterred. Does the numeric LED readout show voltage or other data? Thank you for sharing your robot project. Steve S

Yes, Steve. It shows my 7.5 volt battery. And the eyes glow red. (I prefer Blue.)

Thanks! it took me a day to assemble. I still have to square it up a bit. I am waiting for a quad core to be shrunk down to the size of an EZB. I guess a tablet would work if they shrink it enough. Yes, right now controlled by the desktop.

Cheers!

@007. Right now, I have two Servos on the arms in the front and two servos in the bottom for Left and Right. What you are talking about are probably the sharp IR sensors. I have top and bottom center PING ultrasound and front, right and left IR sensors. Also, I have pan and tilt servos for the head. This may be what you are talking about.

Isn't a shrunk tablet just a smartphone? (actually, my smart phone is better than my tablet).

Looks really good dude.

And hopefully it'll be moving soon, I left a little present for you on the cloud and in your topic about the problems you were having :)

@Rich, I have to hook up many usb ports and sound cards and speakers, etc. Take a look at Marti.

Thanks for the help. :)

Ahh yes I see they are sensors now. I was looking at it on my phone:(
