Change Release Notes
Hello, robot enthusiasts and ARC users! We’re thrilled to share the latest update to Synthiam ARC, version 2025.01.21.00. This release brings exciting features, helpful improvements, and some delightful polish to elevate your robotics experience! Let’s dive into the details and explore what’s new.
Remote Access Service (RAS) Updates
The Remote Access Service (RAS) is a game-changer for remote robot control. With this update, we’ve fine-tuned the RAS Server (RASS) to deliver snappier performance and seamless screen capture.
What’s New:
- Improved Renderer & Screen Capture:
Enjoy faster responses and smoother visuals when controlling your robot remotely.
Important Note: Ensure you’re using the updated RAS Client (RASC) 2025.01.21.00 or higher to take full advantage of these enhancements.
Heads-up: If you don’t see the latest RAS Client update in the app store immediately, don’t panic! It can take 24-48 hours for updates to pass app store verification and become available for download.

Camera Control Just Got Smarter
Calling all camera enthusiasts! We’ve added a powerful enhancement to the CameraStart control command:
- Now, you can specify which camera to activate using an index parameter.
- Example:
ControlCommand("Camera Device", "CameraStart", 0);
will start the camera with the first device in the list, andControlCommand("Camera Device", "CameraStart", 1);
will start the second.
This is perfect for setups with multiple cameras, making scripting more flexible and efficient.
- Example:
Smooth servo Movements with Software Ramping
Not all servo controllers are created equal, but now even basic hobby servos can enjoy smooth, gradual movements thanks to software-based ramping.
- This feature is integrated into the Auto Position and Auto Position Movement Panel.
- Controllers with hardware-based acceleration (e.g., Dynamixel) will continue to shine, but those without it (e.g., EZ-Robot or Arduino hobby servos) now have software-based ramping for smoother performance.
Learn how to make the most of this feature in the Auto Position Manual.
RAS Server Security Enhancements
Your robot’s security matters!
- The RAS Server now requires a password check before enabling servers, providing extra protection against unauthorized access.
Why This Update Rocks
This version is all about speed, control, and security. Whether you’re a tinkerer testing new camera setups, an educator teaching robotics, or a remote pilot managing robots with RAS, this update enhances your experience with robust new tools and smoother performance.

Wow, native servo ramping. This has been talked about for many years and wanted here on this forum. Nice.
I'm stuck right now doing some hardware repairs on my robot. I'm really looking forward to checking these new features out when I get it up and running again.
I tried the servo ramping - it's pretty awesome. I was using a standard hobby servo with 1-180 positions. I used a value of 1000 for the ramping and it was pretty smooth.
Also, I noticed the RASC app is updated on google play appstore. So that didn't take as many hours as posted haha. Also, I wonder if they meant 24-48 but the dash was removed.
Outstanding. I can't wait to get the robot back together so I can try these upgrades. I was wondering about the servo ramping setting and what would be a good number to start with. Thanks for the insight.
Ya, I was sure that they meant 24-48 but forgot the dash. I just thought 2448 ours was kind of funny in a dark kind of way.
Thanks again for the upgrades
