User-inserted image Hi  I have been printing the files that were generously supplied by Mickey666mauss for his creation of Zoe.  I was interested in the original Zoe head as it just appealed to me as I wanted to have a socially interactive robot and I feel that robot would not be viewed as to human looking and get a negative reaction.  like my inmoov and buddy my human looking robot head seem to get on occasion.  I wanted to have my Zoe have a mouth so emotion could be verbal.  so I have added a  mouth on zoe which I think looks very good and also works very well.  Other changes I have made to Mickey's design, I have a lot of regular servos mostly metal gear, I decided to make my version of zoe with standard servos and using a EZ-robot V4 Controller as this is what I am more comfortable with.  of course I had to alter the parts of zoe to fit standard servos, which was not an easy task as I feel I am not that good with Cad design.  but I managed to make due.     This version of Zoe will be mobile mounted on a mobile base and I have lots of design to complete to make that happen.  My version of Zoe is not complete but most of the parts have been printed.  I have had a belt self destruct on my delta printer and I am waiting for a replacement and during this pandemic it will take a while.  the arms are almost complete but I will add pictures of that and Zoe moving later.  the pictures I have downloaded show Zoe and Zoe with eyes illuminated.  the camera is also installed the lights are bright so Zoe can see better in the dark. @Nomad6R Thanks  The issues I am having is it is difficult to get supplies during this pandemic. PETG filament was hard to find as they are using it to make face shields for the first line workers as it is odourless and non allergic.  my printer started to print bad see the shoulder pieces which I have to reprint. started to print rough. one of the belts was worn on the printer and I did not see it.  it takes weeks to get another as the mail is priority shipping.  I will work on design I don't like a pole holding ZOE to the mobile base I think it looks bad so I need to make something else. maybe like this, User-inserted image

yes that a cool design off the robot.like it alot. i got my camera today but it was damage:( . how did you notest your belts where  worn out?

@Normad6R  I started hearing the printer it sounded bad and when I was doing bed leveling it would jump.  The walls of the print had lines and was uneven.      On another note I like the screen on the robot picture I posted I will have to think on what kind of screen to use.  if anyone has ideas? please give me suggestions. thanks.

Hey there, I already wanted to post this morning but I was out of time... I am really happy to see this remix of the early ZOE, this is exactly what I was hoping for!! To share ideas, and have them evolve!!

Great design and I really like the look if it!! Did you use Spray Paint?

Looking forward to see this project evolving, maybe we can brain pool ideas! I also wanted to put 2 DOF to the torso soon!!

P.S. a am having a worn y axis belt to...but if you print stuff that is not having to travel too much at this axis, its still OK! But, replacing or tightening the belt should fix it! :)

Thanks Mickey  Yes I thought my Zoe needed some color it is teal and I did use spray paint.  The shoulder pieces were not that big and they didn't turn out that good, and will need to be printed again,  I have been designing hands I have some metal gear micro servos they should work fine.   Did you like the mouth I added?  I am also working on a mobile base, have you thought of making your Zoe mobile?

@mcsdaver Thanks for you comments, it is normally just a 2 day wait with amazon for a printer belt and their two day has turned to more then 2 weeks.  I have been working on  designing for the time being . @DJSures Thanks for your nice comments.  I should have some of the files cleaned up soon. @Nomad6R.  Yes the stl files for the chest should be soon. I added the servo holders on the chest by solvent glueing and I want to add them so they print attached.  but both works.  it is a difficult print  to 3d print.  I made the arms like latice to reduce the weight but it also makes the print a challenge.

Hi Everyone         it's been a while since I updated this Robot post and there has been a lot done, yet there is lots of work to complete.  First let me say Thanks again Mickey for your design but I feel since I have changed so much that I feel it would not be appropriate to keep using ZOE. I have added a mobile base using Sabertooth for the motors as DJ's live Hack was most helpful getting that setup. thanks DJ.  I have decided to call this Robot COG.  most of the servos are yet to be connected to the EZ-Robot Controller.  Cog is running on a lead-gel battery of 6 volts.  I was having difficulty connecting to WiFi  it took me about 20 minutes to connect and I am now brain dead having listened to to  YOUR BATTERY IS LOW for 20 min .  I had no option to turn it off, until after the connection was made.  Yes I tried but it would not stop. as as I just soldered a new speaker in I kept thinking just cut the wire, you can do it  but I just grit my teeth and continued.  Thanks EZ_Robot  for that lovely feature.  what type of battery are you using would be a great check box in ARC. Here is a picture of Cog.  no funny jokes about the large blue ball  I said it first.User-inserted image

That's a real good look'n robot! At first the base, thought it was an iRobot Roomba. Pretty neat that it's using the sabertooth movement panel. Really like that robot!

@Perry_S  Yes A lot of parts came from other Robots  The forearms were modeled after poppy, poppy uses dynamaxel  servos or ones like that so they had to be totally redesigned but I liked that open concept but cog's design came from 3 robot designs.  when you are not good with cad programs you use what you can get  quiet a few parts came from Zoe Mickey's design    Curious after you sold your inmoov it's been quite a while, have you been working on a new robot design, I know you have design skills.

I actually never thought of having a mobile base for my robot, I always wanted to keep it stationary. But this approach looks really neat!!

@RoboHappy  Thanks  Robo There is still a lot of work to do. @Mickey666Maus   Thanks Mickey, I like the Idea ZOEs Brother COG.  The Mobile base is why I wanted to make this robot, my Inmoov robots could only do so much just standing.  With large robots like Inmoov you have to be so careful as they can tip and fall if you try making them mobile.  the damage is to much, both time and money consuming.  COG is easier and more robust. I still have to make some design changes though one you noticed with ZOE the shoulder to arm connection is definitely a weak point, I have to do something like your Ball Bearing approach. the servos are all metal gearing and connections  but it is a bit floppy. another issue is battery charging. I want cog to roll up to a charging station when the battery is low automatically like DJ's robot in a past Live Hack. this uses magnetic probes.  I wish I had your skills with design thanks again Mickey .  It's all fun.

Hi Nallycat, Yeah I am still at it. Bought a new house and moved so that took me out of the game for a bit. Back at it now. Was just printing some robot parts last night. Been interested in walking robots lately.  I had my fun with inmoov and considered it quite an accomplishment. When I was done though I ran out of things to do with it. There was no conversational AI available and I did not want to go back to My Robot Lab just to get it. The dexterity was not there to perform meaningful movements. It is a human simulator without human functions. Part of that is on me as I do not have the skills to develop the software to get it to do what I want. So I am kinda stuck waiting for things like ProgramAB to be implemented.  So I have had a hobby robot (inmoov) that can wave arms and what have you and don't really want to build another one of those. That is why a walker kind of appeals to me. I have spent a lot of time lately working on actuators and that has been really interesting. 3D printed gearboxes and brushless DC motors.

@Perry_S please share your progress, I am also currently working on 3d printed gearboxes and brushless motors...I will make a post soon, still waiting for parts! I am in the middle of designing and testing Cycloidal reducers...its becoming a bit of an obsession I must admit!! But pleas let us know how you are progressing!! :D

Hey Mickey, Let me pull together some pics and what have you. I built a cycloidal as well but the vibration was pretty intense due to their nature. 2-stage Planetary are working well.

Please do so, I am currently working on a two stage cycloidal gearbox...and am hoping that the centered mass of the offset disks will be reducing the vibration!

A planetary gearbox is also something I am conidering...I had the feeling that it would produce too much backlash, but that should also be possible to get sorted out!!

@Mickey666Maus   Sorry to hear about your power Supply.    Talking about gears My inmoov  Brucee is using a planetory gear on his elbow joints.  it is powered only by an ez-robot HD standard servo, lifting all that weight. and it is not that slow. I originally printed the gears using PETG  but there was a bit of flex between the four center gears and the outer gear causing slippage because of the large amount of weight from the arm.  PLA filament developed cracking. ABS to much flex. the best is carbon graphite filled nylon  very tough and easier to print then standard nylon no warping or shrinking that regular nylon does, and it is self lubricating.

@nallycat that filament you are talking about sounds great...I would really like to check it to, I am always printing in ABS...I never noticed it had that much flex!! Good point!!

I actually always wondered, how you guys are managing to move all that weight of the Inmoovs with standard servos...would be fun to open a thread concerning all those issues! Like good printable gearboxes, different types of filament and motors!!

The Cycloid Gearbox does have issues with vibration...I will try to put a little demo together soon!! :)

Here is a picture of Bruce-e elbow this is showing PET-G as it is white and I it is now Black, I didn't take a new picture, you can see the EZ_Robot HD standard servo and the planetory gear is the top gear  The nylon carbon fibre filament I get it from SPOOL3D but I understand nylonX is also very good, you have to use hard steel or a ruby nozzle on you printer as this stuff is very abrasive. My other Hobby is Guitars and I have finished building this arch top hollow electric acoustic guitar, and Bruce-e wanted to hold the new guitar so I took a picture, he said he wants to learn how to shred the guitar.  that is a playing technique.  I said no.   and Cog is to small to hold it.  User-inserted image

@Nomad6R @EzAng   Yes I can Play Guitar. mostly acoustic but I had a desire to play Jazz so I built this guitar.  you can play electric or acoustic. it is great fun.  I am a luthier and have built from scratch hurdy gurdies, nyckelharpa, fiddles, monkey organs, uilleann Irish bagpipes , recorders and ukulele, the largest is harpsichords here is a picture of my new guitar in front of one of my harpsichords. the oil painting is by me and I also do oil paintings.  too old and very little time.  User-inserted image

@EzAng Thanks for the nice Comment,  Just between you and me I don't think many members of Synthiam  appreciate when you make videos, not many even comment on your videos and they don't realize the time and effort it takes to make videos.  I use my time for building and  designing.  and I like helping members with fresh ideas.  if you check youtube there are a few videos I made of my inmoov robot.   Cog is my latest robot and not many members found interest in Cog.  as it is not in my nature to impress people, I build for myself.  That is why it is so quiet at synthiam.  no body like to comment on anything.  maybe they will just leave a thumbs up.  I can't recall you leaving a comment on Cog.   see what I mean.

By the way I play acoustic, a nylon stringed guitar now most of the time. I have all the Fenders and Gibsons I will ever need.

@EzAng @Mickey666Maus  Sorry guys for not responding.   I have been working on Cog's wheel base, and as you know Mickey the design you create is not usually the final one, lots of re-building. and long printing sessions.  but hay that is the hobby.  and I have watched Dave's B9 videos all of them, and I did not leave a comment, so I guess I an as guilty as the rest.   There are members that we never hear from.  Will has not finished his part 4 yet, hope it is not problems with his aged mother, I know what that is like.    It's nice to find out what other members are interested in, and where their robot creativity comes from.  you don't want too many oops moments as a tattooist ah. Hey Bruce, could be that somtimes there is not as much participation in a thread as one would like to see...but maybe some are too shy, while others might not have something to bring to the table. I have watched Dave's B9 videos too, and did not comment...just because I am not really a part of the B9 builders world, which on the other hand does not imply that I am not interested or inspired by Daves's work! :)

@EzAng  As I have said I don't waste my time making videos, as no one watches them anyway,  but the last one I made was when I was replacing Bruce-e elbows with the new aerious planitary gear elbows .  It was called My inmoov robot wants to go trick or treating.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfD0saECb0A  there are a few others I can't remember where.

I know there are many other things to do in life, like at my country / farm place, I am getting my solar energy and military generated perfected beside trying to tame the wilderness  :-)

I played the guitar for many years, even gave lessons before the virus situation happened, this stopped me. :( So I can either say, no one listens to me now or I choose to say, I am playing guitar for my own enjoyment, yes.

I know this was some months ago but I just joined here.  I like the bot, the design, and the whole look.  I'd like to see what's inside the base if you ever post more pics.  If you change your mind on making vids, I'd love to see it in action.  Having made videos myself, I can understand, its a lot of work so a very small set of people can see what you do.  I enjoyed your InMoov in costume most of all.
