I am starting with an animated R2D2 from Home Depot, he uses a large base that can move him left, right and a little bit forward and back. Because I want a real working robot I removed the base and bttery powered the dome rotation, lights and sounds. These are activated by a AR sensor. I took him apart and added bumper car motors to his rear feet and a swivel wheel to his third foot. Right now he drives using RC and two ESCs, one for each motor.
