Wifi Connection

Hello all,

I just purchased a JD and have it assembled. However, I'm having trouble making a wi-fi connection. Hoping someone can help. I also uninstalled McAfee anti-virus and disabled the windows firewall.

What EZ-Robot or product are you using? (i.e. JD, Six, Developer Kit, etc). JD

Is the battery on the robot fully charged? YES

Does the robot make a startup sound when powered on? Is there a verbal message spoken from the EZ-B v4? If so, you may need to reset The EZ-B v4 YES

What color is the light on the EZ-B v4 and is it flashing or steady? (Flashing Green, steady blue, white, etc) FLASHING BLUE

Are you connecting the device to the WiFi network of the EZ-B v4 by following the video instructions on this page? YES, MY LAPTOP SHOWS ITS CONNECTED TO EZ-B

What error message is displayed in the status window at the bottom of ARC? Press the COPY button on the status window and paste the contents in the forum post. I GET THIS ERROR MESSAGE Connection Failed: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 192.168.1.1:23 at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InternalEndConnect(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.EndConnect(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient.EndConnect(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at EZ_B.EZB.Connect(String hostname, Int32 baudRate) Disconnected

If an error appears, some devices take up to 1 minute to detect the ezb - wait 5-10 seconds and press connect again. Note: do not change or modify the IP address field on connection screen. Use the default value. YES, DID THAT, NO CHANGE

If a connection still does not occur, are you certain your device is connected to the EZ-B v4 via Wi-Fi? YES

Have you double checked the wire connections to the EZ-B v4 using the very helpful learn section on our website? Ensuring the black wire if all plugs matches the black side of the ezb connections? Etc... YES

Reset the EZ-B and repeat this procedure if you are still experiencing issues. OK, RESET - NO CHANGE Resetting tutorial can be found here When resetting, does EZ-B speak introduction message as in the video? YES

If still unable to connect, inquire on the Community Forum and paste answers to these above questions. Also provide what device is being used to connect to the EZ-Robot? (model/operating system) eg Windows 8/Samsung Note 3/Android, iPhone 6, etc WINDOWS 7 PRO - DELL PRECISION 7710 LAPTOP

Thanks, Brooks Markert

With your laptop/desktop computer connected to the EZB Wifi network, open a browser and go to the following address:

http://192.168.1.1

does it open the page ?

Thank you all for your help.

I don't have another computer but I do have a Samsung Tablet.

I tried going to HTTP://192.168.1.1 and I received a message" your connection to this site is not private enter a username and password". I tried entering my EZrobot login info but it didn't work.

The EZB web address 192.168.1.1 does not ask the password.

But when you are connected to your home wifi your router sometimes configured with the same ip address i.e. 192.168.1.1 asks for an user and password.

Are you sure you are connected to the EZB wifi network ?

Try telling your computer not to automatically connect to your home network. I thought this was more of an issue with Windows 10 than Windows 7, but it might be switching back to your home network after you connect to the EZ-B because the EZ-B doesn't provide internet access.

Do you have WiFi AND Ethernet connected at the same time?

#7

Thanks everyone for your help! .168I won't give up, I'm so close to bringing JD to life.

Yes, I have a CAT5 ethernet cable and wifi working concurrently. I tried changing the wifi mode to "client" by clicking on the "ball" icon but I get pop up window that asked me to sign in with a username and password?

I know I'm connected to JD, see the attached screen shot lower right corner.

I will try unplugging the CAT5 and reconnecting.

Also, when EZB4 does connect the IP address is 192.168.1.2 not 192.168.1.1'

I tried using the scan function in the connect window but it didn't pick it up either.

Best, Brooks

I unplugged the cat5 internet cable and I could connect to JD! I'm so excited.

Thank you DJ, you are the best!

Now I just need to figure how to change to "client" mode so I can plug back in the internet cable and have internet and wifi connection to JD concurrently.

Rather than changing to client mode - i recommend changing the IP Address of the robot -or- your home network.

Here's what is happening...

  • The default IP address of JD is 192.168.1.x
  • It also appears that your router network is also 192.168.1.x

This means two devices have the same network on different adapters - that causes a conflict. There are two solutions...

  1. Change the network of the router. This can be done by logging into the router's admin console (192.168.1.1) and locating the LAN tab and simply typing in a new address, such as 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.3.1 or 192.168.4.1, etc...

  2. Change the network of the EZ-B. This can be done by disconnecting from your Ethernet and connecting to the EZ-B JD. Log into JD's admin console by visiting 192.168.1.1 and changing the IP address to 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.3.1, etc...
