Wonder if they would just sell me the camera ... lol.

#2

Dykersville? I wonder if thats a real place

#3

I really dislike people that do that.... I hope everyone here waits for theirs and not get burned by this guy...

#4

I dislike this also. I found this on ebay about 2 hours before it was posted here. I purposely didn't post anything here because I had limited hope that it would go unnoticed.

It did let me see photos of the device kit and read the box, but wish people were not trying to make money on something that they had nothing to do with. I guess supply and demand is still very alive in this world. Nothing can be done about it so I decided not to get worked up and just ignore it.

#5

Come on guys. The guy probably changed his mind. What he making, $50. It's call capitalism.

#6

This doesn't really bother me that much. If I was in more of a hurry, I might go for it. I still don't have shipping info for my orders, one if which is just a developers kit with no additional plastics (although that was ordered in January, so I expect it to be near the back of the list.. my other orders all have extra parts, one of them including the "roli" neck pan and tilt, so it also probably won't be here for a while)

So, being able to order and get delivery within a week might be worth the $50 extra.

I am sure whoever this is moved on to another platform or hobby while waiting for shipping to start. Deciding not to cancel the order, but to continue to help fund EZ-Robotics startup and then make a little extra once the kit was delivered is actually kind of a stand-up thing to do. He could have just cancelled his order.

Good point. Okay, The school I am doing work with just bought it. BTW, I know what it is called. Capitalism should also require that some work be done on your part to make a profit but it doesnt. All good. The school will use it.

#8

@tehtechguru - Thanks for your insight. I specifically asked the seller why he was selling out of curiosity. You hit the nail on the head. Shipping was free, so he really didn't make any money. It should be to my house on Wednesday, allowing me to introduce the students to the V4 on 9/2, when the real hands on after school program begins.

I am glad it found a good home. I was really thinking about snapping it up. I have two kits and some miscellaneous parts on order, but I now have an idea for a 3rd robot so will be buying another at some point (although I could probably just use an EZ-B and camera, not the whole kit for that one).

I am also glad that it found a good home and I was also seriously tempted to purchase it.
Currently I have three orders that I am waiting on and the first has numerous items, but I am having so much fun with EZ robot building my mini six fabricated robot with EZB3. Six is a great robot, I used EZ Robot DJ SIX example to start my fabricated robot. I am glad it went to teach kids robotics! Steve S

@d.cochran, Congrats! Nice score. I know you must be excited and happy you'll have this new EZB V4 for your school in time for classes to start.

There are a lot of people that would have paid more then the extra 50 to get the V4. Personally, if I had been waiting long months or at the end of the long line of people, I would have had no problem paying extra cash (within reason of course, everyone has their price line). It would bother me a little that I had to pay extra but I'd get over that real fast. I really wouldn't care why the guy was selling but I'd be very happy I had one coming. The bottom line is it's my choice to pay the extra cash now or wait for the regular price. I truly understand you're a intelligent and educated person so I don't want to sound preachy or start a political exchange. However sense others here brought up this concept I feel the need to state what I have come to know as the truth; In Capitalism some regulation is very necessary and essential and lets most everyone thrive but too much regulation kills opportunity for everyone in so many ways.

Sounds like you and I see it differently in this area and that's OK. It makes life in the Western world interesting to say the least.;)

Anyway, we're here to build EZ robots and help each other along. I'm so glad you and your school are going to have the opportunity to experience the V4 a lot faster the so many others.:) Enjoy and I cant wait to see what you and your school program do with the EZB V4. There are going to be a lot of fortunate and excited young people who will benefit form your good fortune and forward thinking.

Thanks Dave. Differences of opinion are always welcome with me and I am not someone who is ever going to have a hard time admitting I didn't think about a point that someone else raises that makes me change my perspective.

The initial reaction was of more of a moral thing with me. It's kind of like paying a higher than face value price for scalped tickets to an event. I'm not a fan of that either, but I am sure that many people have no issue with it. It has become a way of life for some even. Helping someone else out who has decided that after a long wait, they don't want to go or can't go to the event is another thing though. I have no issue doing this.

is the end result the same between these two situations, some would say yes. I don't think they are at all. The first will continue to abuse the supply and demand situation and is more like a shark. The second is someone that had something happen and is just looking to recoup their money and let someone else enjoy the event. Me knowing that I am not encouraging the first (scalper) to continue is important to me on a moral level, as much as me trying to help someone out is important to me on a moral level. I don't like scalpers :-)

I am very excited and should have the package soon. The first thing I plan on doing is making that video on setting up my firewall to allow the V4 to be connected to from the internet, and then it will go into my Wall-E project. This will be used by the class until the other robots arrive.

#13

@d.cochran... A video tutorial on how to do that (connect to the V4 over the internet, port forwarding yada, yada...) would be awesome.... I have a unique situation where I used to have an all in one modem/router then because of ezb4 connection issues I disabled the wifi in the all in one (now using just the modem part) and bought myself a new DLink router.... Effectively now I have 2 networks.... Alan (TheTechguru) had mentioned in order to get an internet connection I would have to forward a port from the old router to the new router and then forward yet again to get my EZB online... I resorted to using Team Viewer to access my EZB and ARC remotely.... However, being able to connect without Team Viewer would be preferred....

My network is configured very similar to yours. I will be doing an extensive video on how to configure things in multiple ways for the ezb.

My network configuration is as follows.

All in one cable modem/firewall/router/wifi - firewall and wifi is disabled A PF Sense firewall HP 24 port switch 6 port switch Wifi access point EZ-B

There are 4 different computers that I can setup different situations on, including a tablet with linux running windows in a virtual machine that is running ARC.

I also have a machine running as a LDAP/Email server but that one wont be a part of this demo.

I have machines running Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 and Ubuntu 14.04. Some are on the domain and some are not.

I will be using my cell phone as an access point to connect the PC's to demonstrate connecting from outside the network. With this setup, I should be able to represent pretty much any situation that someone is going to face at home. My video making ability is going to be the downfall. Oh that and my ugly mug:)

#16

@d.cochran, you should change your screen name to @TheNetworkguru . :) We're lucky to have a few people like you around here. Your experience and insight are coming in handy with V4's WiFi feature. I know you and others helped me out a lot when I first got my new V4.

Hey, I don't like scalpers either but as long as there are people willing to pay that stupid high price they will be almost impossible to get rid of. BTW, I have season tickets to Green Bay Packer football games at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I'm not using my tickets this coming weekend and will be offering two of them located in the end zone to friends or good acquaintances for free. Any of my friends here want them? :)

#17

I wish I was there. I would love to see the oldest football field in the league.

There is an EZ-Robot dev kit only about 5 miles from my house right now. Unfortunately, it is at the post office and I wont be able to have it delivered until tomorrow. It's like I'm 8 years old and its Christmas eve. The torture!

#19

Wait, the door bell rang, and it was USPS with a box. I opened it and I now have the ezrobot developer kit in my lap. its like the red rider bb gun that ralphie got. little smile on my face and everything...

WHOOT!
