To add to what David said... For the ezb3 serial communication is "one way" only as the ezb3 can only send serial data, not receive it. The ezb4 has 3 UART ports for bi-directional serial communication....
Currently there is a Black Friday/cyber Monday sale on in the store here (20% off).... The ezb4 is light years ahead of the ezb3 in every way... So maybe now is a good time to upgrade to an ezb4?

Or use I2C which has both send and receive functions on the EZ-B V3. All Arduino should have I2C connections too.
