Hey EzAng! That was cool to see Mr Metal again. What happened to the Servocity wheel; base he had before?

Thanks Nomad for the email comment

Waiting for for better parts for arms, I think Standard  ServoBlocks are the way to go, watch this:

RoboHappy,

here is my robot voice, what do you think?

Looking forward to seeing this robot take form. servo blocks are good for protecting from damage to the servo from side pressure. I've used them a bunch of times. They do nothing to add torque though if needed. You may not need the extra strength. If so look into servo City's gearboxes.

Very cool on the Robot voice ! what program you use?  I love the old metallic robot voice for a robot, wanted to do that on Hemi. Ive used the Servocity Servoblocks before, also very good.

RoboHappy, I use audacity - https://www.audacityteam.org/ free

record any thing for a test - go to effects, vocoder at bottom

use my settings here:

RoboHappy,

forgot to tell you, after you record in audacity, go up to file, then export into what format you want, I used mp3, send to a fold on your computer you remember - that's it. - I imported it into ARC's pc soundboard

There is much more you can use audacity for, if you want, read the help manual

EzAng, Yes, I've watched many times and understand. servo blocks will not make your servo stronger. It will however protect the servo from radial loads. The servo Block transfers the sideways load to the body of the servo. If you want to increase the strength of you servo you need to use a gearbox. I've used both servo Blocks and gearboxes. They do two different jobs.

Perhaps I am confused by what you are trying to do with the servo Block. Sorry if that's the case. So we can get on the same page could you state what you want the servo Block to accomplish for you?

I love the way you are having fun with your robots. You seem to be fully into the enjoyment and learning of this cool hobby. You have quite an imagination. That's a must have with robotics.

Good morning Dave,

I also understand what servo Blocks and gearboxes are used for in a project..

I use gearboxes for my two arms on Mr. Metal.

My new project is basically a robot crane that can move on wheels and pick things up, moving them horizontal controlled by ARC.

I still have my Lionel trains form when I was a child.

This is the basic concept:

EzAng, I like how you gave your robot mouth movement, very creative. Voice sounds great too. I enjoy Lionel and other O and O27 trains also. Steve S

Thanks Steve,

What are you up too as far as robots?

Audacity make a nice robot voice, did you hear that?

EzAng, Yes, your robot voice sounds great! Moved my Commodore 64 back downstairs that operates my retro robot JAMES that I got operational again. Just finished putting an H-Bridge in an old Meccano, I am rebuilding for my grandkids. Steve S

Just received my servo city parts, I hope soon I will have a rolling tractor to pick things up with ARC  :)

I purchased my first JD robot in March of 2019 - now it is April 2021, learned so many things in 2 years, and I hope more to come, be well all.
