Windows 8 Bluetooth Conection Question

Hi, my name is Eric I am have problems getting my HP windows 8 laptop connected to my Bluetooth dongle that came with the ez robot kit. My laptop did not come with Bluetooth on it. I have watched many videos on doing this but when I go through the add device it doesn't find the dongle. I took the dongle apart like DJ showed and pushed the pairing button and got both leds to stay on but no connection or discovery, I have the ez-b power up . I also downloaded the Microsoft Bluetooth stack but still nothing. I have spent a great amount of time trying to get firmware installed with my ez-b. If anyone can give me things to try that the video don't cover I would appreciate. I can get the bluetooth camera to work in ARC. Thanks in advance, Eric

Are you trying to pair the ezb3 board itself or are you trying to pair the camera? Isn't DJs video to take apart and pair for the camera only? The dongle is only for the camera... if your laptop does not have BT then you will need a seperate generic usb dongle for the ezb3 board too

It looks like you have mistaken the camera's dongle for a bluetooth dongle. It isn't. You will require a bluetooth dongle.

The video you refer to is for the camera dongle which connects only to the camera. It is not bluetooth.

The dongle that came with my EZ didn't work either. I had to get one specifically for windows from best buy. It was made by Roadrunner and cost about $15 I think. It was about 9 months ago. Also if your blu tooth isn't working a blu tooth camera won't work either. So once you get your BT working, try the camera again.

Sound to me like your trying to use the wireless camera dongle as a Bluetooth dongle. The wireless camera dongle works ONLY with the camera. If you need Bluetooth, go to a local electronics shop or ebay and ask for a Bluetooth dongle. Plug it in and windows should recognise it. Then try the connection process.

I think I may have been mis reading. I see 2 problems. 1: blu tooth 2: camera. The EZB connects to the PC via blu tooth. You'll need to get it working before you can connect the EZB to the PC. If you are talking about the camera that came with the EZ Complete, it is wifi and has the usb thumbdrive looking dongle. That is a separate issue. Windows detected my camera fine so I have no info there. If you are using a different camera that is blu tooth you still need to get blu tooth working first. My Complete came with both dongles but the blu tooth didn't work.

The camera that came with the EZ-B v3 kit is neither Bluetooth or WiFi. It is proprietary 2.7 ghz radio. The dongle is for the camera.

I never saw a bluetooth dongle in the parts list for any version of the complete kit. If your computer doesn't have Bluetooth, you will need to buy one.

You can get htem at Microcenter or Frys for about $5. Best Buy or any office supply store for ~$15.

This quote tells us that his camera works:

"I can get the bluetooth camera to work in ARC"

All he needs to do is get a Bluetooth dongle and he's ready to try again.

Alan is correct it just has the usb antenna. I don't know why I put wifi in there. Sorry. :(
