Roli Time-lapse Video Robot

Hey everyone, I wanted to introduce to you the World's first Roli Time-lapse Rig

Pretty straight forward, your standard garden variety Roli with a GoPro mount ... With help from Cory, we've created a printable GoPro EZ-Bit. Quite useful, really.

Setup is simple. The GoPro set to fire every 5 seconds, and the Code moves Roli for 1/10 of a second, (about 1/2 inch) then wait for 4.9 seconds, and repeat. Then make sure the GoPro is in sync, and just let the thing rock and roll.

The beauty with this setup is that you can also add code to get the head to rotate, which we did in a couple of the time-lapses later on in the video. I've also taken a cue from Hollywood and built a film rail, which helps smooth the time-lapse.

User-inserted image This rig is just a couple of screen door frames from a hardware store. I've removed the left side tread, and the edge of the rim stays in a groove in the rail and guides Roli, and the ride side tread stays on and drives the unit. Works pretty slick, if I do say so myself, and it cost all of about $25 to build. (A little bit of HillBilly engineering;) )

The next step will be to mount this guy with a DSLR, and code EZ-B to fire the camera, rather than relying on an intervalometer. This way we know the rig will be in perfect sync, for every frame, plus the added ability to compose/expose the image better with a DSLR, rather than a GoPro, and of course, better image quality.

I hope to have the DSLR rig up and running soon, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with as well. Would love to see some of your Time-lapse videos.

@bborastero adding the GoPro mount to the ez-bit library is on my to-do list. For the time being I will post it on here for you guys.
