Only One Ezb V4 Per Wifi Connection

If I want to use more than one EZ-B, do I need to increase the number of WiFi connections accordingly? I am currently using two EZ-B controllers: one EZ-B v4 and one EZ-B v4/2. I have two WiFi connections available: one is the built-in WiFi, and the second is an external USB WiFi dongle named WiFi2.

I am unable to use both EZ-B controllers on a single WiFi connection. When I attempt to connect a second EZ-B to the same WiFi network, it connects, but the first EZ-B that was connected gets disconnected.

Here's what I did: I connected one EZ-B to the built-in WiFi and the second EZ-B to WiFi2. I also modified the IP address of the EZ-B v4/2 to 192.168.3.1. Now, I have two EZ-B controllers, two WiFi connections, and two distinct IP addresses.

My goal is to use two robots, each with one Soundboard skill.

To use multiple EZ-B v4 controllers with ARC, you don't necessarily need separate WiFi connections for each EZ-B. However, there are a few considerations to ensure a stable connection:

  1. Network Configuration:

    • Ensure that each EZ-B is set to a unique IP address within the same subnet. It seems you've already done this by setting one EZ-B to 192.168.3.1. Make sure the other EZ-B is on a different IP, such as 192.168.3.2, within the same subnet.
    • Both EZ-Bs should be in client mode, connecting to the same WiFi network, rather than each having its own separate WiFi connection.
  2. WiFi Network:

    • Ensure your WiFi network can handle multiple devices. Some routers have limitations on the number of devices that can be connected simultaneously.
    • Check the router settings to ensure there are no restrictions or settings that might disconnect one device when another connects.
  3. ARC Configuration:

    • In ARC, you can add multiple EZ-B connections using the EZB Connections skill. Each connection should correspond to a different EZ-B controller.
    • Ensure that each EZ-B connection in ARC is configured with the correct IP address of the respective EZ-B.
  4. Soundboard Skill:

    • Once both EZ-Bs are connected, you can assign a Soundboard skill to each EZ-B. Ensure that the Soundboard skill is configured to use the correct EZ-B connection.
  5. Troubleshooting:

    • If you continue to experience disconnections, try connecting each EZ-B one at a time to ensure they can connect individually without issues.
    • Check for any firmware updates for the EZ-B controllers that might address connectivity issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to use both EZ-B controllers simultaneously on the same WiFi network without needing separate WiFi connections for each. If you encounter further issues, feel free to ask for more assistance.

@nomad . yes i did it but if the board 1 is not connected it wont work. in fact, i wanted to use soundboard for testing but i can do the same test with camera. As Athena said, i have to modify the ip. i will give a try soon but i am confident it will work using different ips in the same subnet.

@athena. I can modify the ip-address on the ezb v4-2 but not on the ezb v4.x/1 ,i dont see any box which allow me to modify it. Is the ip-address on the ezb v4.x/1 fix ?

The IP address for the EZ-B v4.x/1 is typically fixed when it is in AP (Access Point) mode. However, when you switch the EZ-B to client mode, it should obtain an IP address from your router's DHCP server, or you can set a static IP address if your router supports it.

Here's how you can manage the IP address for your EZ-B v4.x/1:

  1. Access Point Mode:

    • In AP mode, the EZ-B v4.x/1 will have a default IP address, usually something like 192.168.1.1. This is fixed and cannot be changed directly on the EZ-B itself.
  2. Client Mode:

    • To change the IP address, you need to switch the EZ-B to client mode. This allows it to connect to your existing WiFi network.
    • Once in client mode, the EZ-B will either receive an IP address from your router's DHCP server or you can assign a static IP address through your router's settings.
  3. Setting a Static IP:

    • If you want to set a static IP address, you will need to access your router's configuration page. Look for a section related to DHCP reservations or static IP assignments.
    • Assign a unique IP address to the MAC address of your EZ-B v4.x/1. This ensures that the EZ-B always receives the same IP address when it connects to your network.
  4. Web Configuration:

    • You can access the EZ-B's web configuration page by connecting to it in AP mode and navigating to its default IP address in a web browser.
    • From there, you can switch it to client mode and configure the WiFi settings to connect to your network.

If you need further assistance with these steps, please let me know!

As explained in this document

https://synthiam.com/Support/Tips-to-Make-a-Robot/Multiple-EZ-B-over-WiFi

i could set up my 2 EZBs, one as AP mode and the other one as Client mode. it works perfectly. so i could load skills either in EZB #0 or #1. i wrote a small procedure as reminder. how to connect 2 ezb.zip I wonder if later, it wont be better to have a local router specially for ARC,ezb ? i still have my home router for family but a local router with an independent network just for ezb, arc. Kind of "robot-lab" network. I havent made the try but something like a PC with a network to internet and a network with local router(lan, wifi) for arc, robot, ezb.
