hi guys, i have a little problem with connecting the ez-b to my computer. My ez-b will not connect to my computer's wifi receiver, it is very strange because it will connect to every other computer i try it on, just not mine. I even tried plugging in a usb wifi dongle and it still will not connect to my ez-b through this computer, but it will connect to other computers that I use that dongle with. i tried disabling windows defender and fire wall and i don't have any other spyware programs installed on this pc. I also tried updating my wifi receivers drivers. It is very strange. I would like to use my ez-b in adhoc mode vs client mode. I have also reset the ez-b by holding the button and restarting my computer. My laptop is an hp pavilion x360 and it’s running on windows 8.1. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to help me out. ?
sorry for the miscomunication. i want to connect my ez-b to my computer dirrectly, without using it in access point mode.
(sorry I forgot to mention, it is a laptop and I don’t have an ethernet cable hooked up to it)
@Herbie53, What type of EZ-Bv4 WiFi board version do you have?
The version with the Bluegiga module or the newer slash 2 (MXchip module)?
I know the Bluegiga module early firmware had issues connecting to HP computers due to incompatibility of the WiFi chips they had in them.
If you have a Bluegiga module version a firmware update should take care of it, but you'll need a PICKIT programmer. Otherwise, I'd suggest updating to the slash 2 WiFi board.
oh okay i do have the older board, so that must be te problem.
oh okay, I do have the older board, so that must be the problem. Thanks for your help guys, now I know that it’s just my computer that is in compatible. Just one unrelated question though. Have any of you guys tried using an Arduino with the ez-b software. I would prefer a wired connection for my next project so I was thinking with going with the Arduino rout. I just wanted to know if you could give a speech recognition command to ARC and then the software would tell the Arduino to output 5 v signal, has anyone ever tried this. Thanks again for all of the help.
If that is the case EZB does not support that mode. In adhoc mode Windows creates the network but does not provide a DHCP server, so EZB eventually connects to network but can't get an IP from windows, for that to work you will need to assign a static IP in EZB, and that option does not exist so is not supported.

btw i have an adhoc network:

Is a windows 7 sharing the network, I use to quarantine bad applications, I can connect but nothing gets out from there, and is called Phoenix, because frequently the environment is regenerated.no, i was not trying to connect through client mode, i was trying to connect through access point mode, but it's ok, i realized that i just have an older version of the ez-b and it will not connect to HP laptops.
