@wbs00001 thank you, I'll try this out later today!
@mickey666maus, fun video! Yes .fbx seems the most universal way to get the motions moved around. I can get live streaming into motion builder, but again would have to be recorded motion to bring into max unless there is a live bridge between the two.
Fk/ik absolutely would be a great way to create animations and key frames.
The two Kinect set up works really well, but the recording volume still remains small, like 7 feet cube. Ipi software does an amazing job at recording motion and is filtered motion. The price is higher than brekel but results are a lot better. There are several options for camera choices as well. It's still under development but it's slow.
Motion builder works great for getting the motions into our packages. We should use it as our main central Mocap processor (when we get to Mocap).
@DaveSchulpius
I consider your pitty for the protagonist in my short as a great compliment...but you can rest assured, I know him personally and he is doing just fine!
@fxrtst
I also used Motion Builder back in the days to get the live data streamed...
Using the Kinect we should also keep an eye on getting it hooked directly to ARC as being discussed here in the forum!
The HTC Vive could also be a good DIY sollution for clean MOCAP data although they do not really track all the joints I guess...I will check what Brekel offers, as I said it has been a long time since I took a look at what they are offering!
Gentlmen I found this project. Although it's from 2011 and probably superseded today, and it uses blender not max, it does describe in detail how to get from one program to the servo, using Python, writing out to use serial. Some useful info here.
When I was playing with RoboRealm and I had D.Cochran hook me up with streaming data into ARC from Roborealm and Vise Versa, as the EZ camera went into Roborealm and the RR then built facial and object recognization and that data was pass back to ARC as a variable, why cant we just have data stream from MAX to ARC via variables? Like PTP did with his live kinect set up?
@fxrtst
This is exactly what we are doing...
I will make a tutorial video once I have a little time on my hands!
The beauty of it is, there is no need to stream the data to the serial port because of the HTTP Server that ARC supplies!
I was using a lot of pre-recorded motion in those clips back then...
That was oddly disturbing. I felt bad for the main character. If real, what a sad way to exist.

Its been a quantum leap since then I guess!
