Project Big Robot Wall-E

Dj, okay?

I wonder if it is possible to control your system with pneumatic arms ... and also would like to know if u have the measurements of Wall-e, because I want to mount the robot on a larger scale ... piece by piece ... I want to recreate it using your card ... Could you help me? I'm from Brazil ... and I'm crazy to buy your card to start Wall-e. Sorry, my english...

hugs

By Card, you mean kit? the ez-robot kit?

Depending on the size of the arm, I bet you could.

My wall-e(same as his) is 12cm x 20cm x 27cm. that's width, length, height. Not counting the head he's 15cm. My head and arms are lifted up by servos so he's a little shorter and thinner than my measurement before modification.

A pneumatic system powering a robot is a great idea. I was going to use this set up on my full size Lost In Space B9 robot. However I went a different way by using mostly DC motors and H-Bridges. The reason being that the pneumatic system is noisy with the air pump running and filling up the air holding tank and the hiss of the valves releasing when you wanted something to move. Not acceptable on my robot because I wanted him to be almost exact to the TZV robot. However these sounds may be cool on other peoples robots depending on how tolerant they are to the noise. Also with a little sound damping like Dynamat the air pump may run almost silent.

If you would like to see a small and inexpensive system with instructions built into a full sized B9 follow this link: home.earthlink.net/~robotb9/id29.html

Here's a video of a set of claws used on the end of B9's arms operated by pneumatics. Very cool. If you listen you can hear the hiss in the background.

It would be very eazy to interface EZB with a system like this.

Have fun, Dave Schulpius

@Dave ...funny video:) I also toyed with the idea of pneumatics (air muscles) but for the same reasons of compressor noise and hiss, declined....but ...that being said ..the sound of hissing might be a coool addition!

This is pretty cool video...the hissing could be a nice effect. :D

The hissing has got me thinking about "enhancing " the hissing sound to make it sound more like steam! as in a Steampunk style robot....Even adding a steamer "I hear that train a coming" ;)

That's a nice little pneumatic system. I think I may have a use for it somewhere on my larger bot. Hmmmmmm
