I have ping obstacle control on, my ping sensor works perfectly but the robot doesn't stop once it is at the set min. distance to a object.

Have you tried the "Collision" control? That one will stop the robot. The "Object" is really just telling you there is something ahead.
The Ping Radar is my favorite for that. Because you can have your robot automatically turn to avoid objects.

Yes, i AM using "collision" control and i can't use radar since there's no place for another servo on my robot.
