Parallax Ping Sensor

HI EVERY ONE, HAS ANY ONE TRIED TO USE THE PING SENSOR FROM PARALLAX, IT ONLY USES THREE CONNECTIONS, THE GRN,PWR,AND SIGNAL. THE ONLY SENSOR LISTED FOR THE EZ-B IS FOR THE HC SR04.

Yes, it works just fine. Just set both both the Trigger and Echo ports to the same digital port.

#2

Does that mean we can tie echo and trigger together on DJs ping sensor to save a port?

#3

I doubt it. The parallax board has an added driver circuit to do the clocking and "auto" transmit. That's probably why theirs costs twice as much as the others.

#4

@Dave L do you have a code for EZ board for using the parallax ping sensor

#6

found out code not really needed, open ping distance and click on config ,script is needed to use in robot design each design needs is different but would be very helpfull is someone the ARC file saved with many add conrols for sonars.ir ,servos and more with all scripts needed, this way its a great example on how to make scripts, havent tried it yet may be easy, still got hacking and getting parts in,after robot project is done, then EZ- builder code time

The parallax ping works fine on the EZ-board, I have used it on the servo in radar mode on a tracked robot, just set the echo and triger ports are the same.

whats bad about the parallax sensor it cost more than any type on the market ,like the HC-SR04 you can get them for $3.50 on parallax ping its $30 ,good side of parallax is using only one port

my favorate is always THE MAXSONAR ,first very low current 2 ma compare to 30ma on all others then single transducer, very easy for robot eyes and mounting in small or large robots has trig and echo, but can be use as a single wire analog, specs are much much better then the others costs about the same as SRF04,i most buy 10 at a time for a big discount the best is the 2ma current use, much longer battery life in all my disigns i look at very low current boards, sensors ,motors and LDO (low dropout regulator) ,and leds like on the EZB changing 20 ma led to a 2 ma led it adds up when having a robot on for long time, dont need to recharge sooner

Question is: Is one port worth $30 bucks. Not for me, not at the moment. I would rather put that $30 towards another EZ-B and then have all the ports I want - bwa ha ha....

yes buying about 3 parallax pings is about the cost of a EZB
