Novice Help Required Please - Synthiam Servo Recorder And ARC (EZ-B V4)

Hi all, please excuse these n00b questions, I am only just starting to get into this as a hobby, as it is something I have been interested in for a long time.

I initially have two questions if anyone could kindly help please.

(I have looked through the tutorials section and searched the community section but have either not found an answer or not understood)

Q1.  Am I correct in thinking, by using your Synthiam servo Recorder in conjunction with your servo Pad, I do not require any programming skills to setup and control my servos?

Q2.  Is there a way to save and run the routine created independently on the EZ-B v4 board, so no computer is required?

In a nutshell, I am looking to purchase an EZ-B v4 board, connect several digital servos, and wish to setup a series of routines via the above software, then be able to run these routines independently of a computer if possible, but most importantly, be able to do this without having to learn how to program/code.

Many thanks for any help you can provide in advance.

Des.

  1. I’d recommend the Auto Position control. It’s more versatile than simply recording motions.

  2. you always need a computer when using any of the ezb compatible controllers or products. The controllers are not powerful enough to do anything other than move servos. So the computer does the heavy lifting for vision recognition and audio and crazy algorithms etc

but for a computer, if it’s requiring a small form factor, just use a raspberry pi. They’re like $35

although for real power I recommend lattepanda. Check getting started section.

Hi DJ Sures,

Thank you for your quick reply and advice.

I am going to purchase the EZ-B V4 Robot Controller board today.  When it arrives I will have a play and see if I can use it as required.

One final question, do you know of any software/hardware solution, even a plugin if it exists, which could help with a lip sync on my robot head, or will I just have to manually create the movements to try and make it look in sync?

Many thanks again,

Des.
