No Serial Port

I purchased one of the first EZ-B packages (Ver 3) for my Wall-e, aprox 1 1/2 years ago. After 2 heart attacks, I finally have everything installed into my Wall-e. I do have a Bluetooth dongle

I now have a Toshiba C675 laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate, without a serial port.

My older laptop Dell D505 only runs Windows XP Professional

Major OOPS! EZ-B is requesting a serial port to operate.

The Toshiba has no serial port, the Dell wont run ARC under Windows XP.

What do I do now? Thanks for any input on this issue.

Does your laptop have bluetooth? That is how (typically) the ezb3 connects to a PC... If not you can buy a cheap Bluetooth dongle to plug into a USB port on your laptop... Remember, the Bluetooth dongle that came with your kit is for the camera only. You will need another one for connecting to the ezb board...

Install your Bluetooth dongle in your Win 7 laptop. Then it will build you some USB com ports. To obtain some SPP USB ports will require you to associate the laptop bluetooth with the EZ-B bluetooth.

Another step my be required also. You did not mention whether you performed the Version 16 firmware update. That step MUST be done before any thing else is done with your EZ-B.

Before anything else, pair the EZ-B and the PC.

It seems the "Getting Started" page on here has changed to show the V4 and the V3's has gone (We still need it even if it's tucked away). But the first steps to take are;

  1. Connect the Bluetooth Dongle to the PC
  2. Ensure the bluetooth dongle is installed and ready to go (you should get a small bluetooth symbol in the system tray by the clock or it should show up in Devices and Printers)
  3. Power up the EZ-B
  4. Click Start, Devices and Printers, Add A Device
  5. Windows should show all new devices which you can connect to. Select "Linvor" (if it has never been connected) or EZ-B.
  6. It should ask for a passcode, it is 1234
  7. Follow the on screen prompts. The EZ-B should now be paired.
  8. Open the EZ-B Firmware Update
  9. Update the firmware by following the on screen instructions.
