Hello Everybody! Old Toys Vs Dyi Robots For First?

hi every one I m new at this but can t wait to be part of the wonderful world of robotic. I ordered my kit a few days ago and can t wait for it to be here. now the question arise should I try to build my first robot from scratch or would it be better to experiment with an old toy first .I have to get the lingo and technicalities sorted. it s still a bit confusing to me but once I get my feet wet it should get easier eek so many ideas but also worried to mess up the ez b by mixing things up if I use third parties components. and again thank you DJ for making this possible ! I love all the video and tutorial! you ll make a dummy sound smart! lol;)

Welcome to EZ-Robots:)

Start with the EZ-Box Bot:) It's a cool little bot which is easy to make and will get you familiar with the different parts and controls.

If in doubt just ask, we are a good bunch on here always wanting to help others out.

But most of all, enjoy yourself:D

once you watch the video tutorials a couple times you get a confidence boost. once that happens, keep an eye out for something you would want to turn into a robot. One thing I turned into a robot was my old rc car. though it has taken a fair bit of work.

I'm pretty new to this myself and my bot is currently made out of a Zune box. It's getting my something to play with but I find myself wandering the toy isles, well not just the Transformer isle for a change, looking for something to wedge my ezb into. I haven't done anything beyond the basic kit. I still haven't gotten around to putting the Ping sensor on yet. I'm gonna hold off until I find what I really want. I'm looking forward to learning how to use the H-bridges and such. There seems to be a little burst of us newcomers in the past month or two so know that you are not alone. The support on these forums is incredible. They make learning this pretty easy if you get stuck.

Hi and welcome to the family, yes I agree with Rich, the box bot is a great starter robot. You will get familiar with all the parts and software. Follow the video tutorials that Technopro stated there are alot of them and they are fun to watch. You never know where you will go with your bot you may just want to stick with the box bot or grow to the awesome B9 like Dschulpius's. Remember there are no dumb questions, if you have a question, just ask, someone here most likely can answer it for you, I know I asked my share of dumb questions.
