I have followed the HTTP Server Tutorial. I loaded my project, added the HTTP Server control, viewed the three IP addresses that came up, used Microsoft Help to verify that the first address is my PC containing ARC, loaded that address in my iPad's Safari browser, and tapped "Go". The browser searched and searched but finally said it could not open the page because the server stopped responding. I then pinged that page using the iPad and successfully got a good response. To see what would happen I also tried the other two IP addresses. The second pinged OK but also would not open a page. The third (my internet provider address?) did come up asking me to log in, which I could not do. Will appreciate some help.
If you have the windows firewall turned on you may have to allow ARC to pass port 80 through the firewall.
Did you click the start button on the http server control?
Also try this; On the same PC that ARC is running On open up a browser window Go to http://127.0.0.1/ Does the browser show the ARC HTTP pages?
Also your home router may have AP Isolation enabled. Which prevents Wifi connected computers to speak with each other.
Hey guys!
Thanks for being so helpful. I tried Rich's suggestion first because it was the simplest. It gave me a message similar to what I was getting when I tapped Start, namely "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 127.0.0.1". But thanks anyway Rich. Next I tried RobertL184's suggestion and it worked! And I learned something new in the process. Thank you RobertL. DJ, I will have to research what AP Isolation is but first I'm going to have some fun with HTTP Server! Thank you for taking some of your valuable time to help, and thanks also for creating this really neat feature. Hopefully these posts will help another poor soul struggling, like me, with a problem that he doesn't have the background to solve; at least not without a lot of agony!
Sincerely, dicka
