Hey, Mine is from Motorola. My PC's wifi receiver is Asus USB stick wifi adapter. Idk if this information will help though. But I am currently connected through an ethernet while having the wifi receiver connect to my JD but its just wont connect. And I'm using Windows 8.1
Hi @deuel18 Please also try temporarily disconnecting your wired ethernet connection, and try to connect again. Your router might have a conflicting IP address with the EZ-B (192.168.1.1). We usually suggest to try client mode if you would still like to keep your wired connection.
I was actually hoping to have the issue with my HP so that I could assist in trouble-shooting/testing but my Elitebook 2570P connected to my new Roli and Dev kit EZ-B's with no problem.

@RoboMicke since you are seeing your router's configuration website it means that you aren't connected to the EZ-B directly. You are still on you're home network.
1)Please unplug any LAN cables to your computer
2)Press the reset wifi button on the EZ-B
3)Open up your wifi connections on your PC
4)Connect to the EZ-B's wifi network. It will look like "EZ-B v4 XXXX"
My computer isn't an HP but I am having trouble connecting to my Roil from my computer. I can from my laptop so I know it's not my Roil.

It looks like your PC has a Wireless LAN card with an RaLink chipset, unfortunately we have been seeing issues with this chipset. I would recommend using client mode with your PC.
So the problem is I live at a college that requires all devices to be registered to use the wifi. I know how to pass it through because I work at their IT but I need the Mac address to do that. I don't know any other way to locate the Ez Wifi thing without one. Any instruction on how to get that?
On a side note, you should consider an automatic "Read More". Might make forms easier to read.

I just tried connecting with my old computer and it worked. I guess Ill just continue using the laptop. Thanks for the help. somethings wrong with my desktop connection. but no worries
I have a unique problem. I just bought an hp stream 7 tablet, and it is my only computer. It connects to my ezb network but when i hit connect on the ARC it says cannot connect to ezb. I've tried running the diagnostic report, but when i do it's blank and i get an error message. As such, i cannot post my diagnostic report in this reply. the ARC tells me this when it can't connect;

hopefully that will help, and hopefully somebody can help me
@chrisg93 If you're saying you don't have avast installed and it shows in your application.. you may have a been infected by a fake version (malware) install.
I would recommend using the following free tool to scan your system, you don't need to use the premium. it should removed the Avast semi-real AntiVirus application from your system.
Well, I downloaded malwarebytes and preformed a scan but it didn't find anything. I think the problem might be that my tablet is an HP. Are there any common problems with HP computers I could try to solve? I can connect to my ez-b network just fine, and when I try to connect to the board the indicator light remains on but the ARC tells me that the board isn't communicating.
The problem HP users (with a RaLink chipset) have is not being able to connect to the ez-bv4 network, which you can do so it's not your HP.
Try connecting to your network and wait until it's finished connecting, then try to connect with ARC making sure you have the default network address: 192.168.1.1:23 The ez-b network connection will be labelled as "limited" due to the absence of an internet connection.
Do you have a wired ethernet connection? If so, try temporarily unplugging it and connect again.
Do you have a revolution robot or developer's kit? Either way, you'll need to have your batteries charged.
What were the problems with the RT3290? I have an HP desktop with the RT3290 and it connected to my EZb4 just fine. Was the problem not connecting at all or dropping connection?
Ha, ha... Justin... where have you been dude?... many users were/are having trouble connecting their ezbs to some HP and Compaq PCs.... There are many threads on this over the last few months or so...
I just connected to the network and made sure I waited till it was done connecting. unfortunately after making sure the default address was correct in the ARC, (which it was) I still recieve this error message from the ARC;

That is the old log, but the message was the same with the exception of the time stamps. I'm connecting to the network using only my tablet and no external plugs.
That Network adapter should work, I'm guessing this might be a antivirus/firewall issue. I looked your tablet's product page and someone in the comments mentioned that it comes with "full featured anti virus and firewalls" so I'm guessing that those items are getting in the way of ARC connecting to the ez-b.
With the "unhandled exception" I'm concerned the install of ARC may not be working correctly. I would recommend downloading and installed the latest release of ARC and try the diagnostic report again. If there is an error can you take a screen shot?
Well, I turned off Windows firewall, windows defender, and windows smartscreen, but it still didn't work. Also i cant take a screenshot of the error message, but i will post it here;

I was just reading a thread on the HP forums, some people have had WiFI issues with their tablets, some have fixed things with a USB dongle (plus OTG cable) others have just done a driver update using "HP Support Assistant" and had success as well.
I can recommend any of the following dongles that have been tested with the ez-b:
Okay, well I tried the ezb in client mode, and the green light on the ezb is flashing. However when I scanned the network, it didn't pick up any IP addresses.
@Chrisg93... Sorry, didn't know you just bought your tablet... I thought it was old for some reason... I was trying to give you an excuse to buy a new one... LOL... If after you try it out on another PC you find out it is your tablet that's the issue.... maybe (since it is new) you can exchange it for another model?
I tried updating the drivers, but it said the latest ones were already installed. I have thought about exchanging it for another model, but this was the cheapest one, and I don't have the spare money to make up for the difference.
I tried connecting on my friends' laptop and desktop, but it gave me the same error message. They were both HPs though, but they connected to the network just fine so I don't know if that matters.
This is a longshot, but what city are you located in? Maybe another forum participant would be able to meet you and help determine if the EZ-B is bad or if it is an issue with your computer (if you are in the DC/Baltimore megalopolis, I would be happy to do so).
well, I'm in a no name town called Ranger in north Georgia. If you know of anybody in that area that'd be great, but it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't. lol
Would you be able to power up the ez-bv4 and then use something sharp to press the reset button? Please listen for "resetting ez-b" voice and look for the red LED to light up (directly below the reset button). Here's a pic for reference:
This will confirm that the ez-bv4 main board is functioning correctly and the issue resides on the computer side rather than the ez-b side.
Well, there's the problem. You can't connect because the ez-bv4 main board has a issue, has it been this way ever since you received it? Did the sound ever work? If not, I'll get you to go through the warranty process.
Since you haven't had a chance to complete some of our lessons, let me encourage you to go to the Learn section of our site to get more familiar with the way the ez-bv4 should function and operate, it's definitely very helpful when you are just starting out.
Hi
I got my EZB4 (it's the first in my life), it's ok in AP mode but when i try to use client mode it is saying : unable to connect to this network, and red light blinking.
my wifi has password.
ssid = my office wifi name
password = the wifi password
is it right?
You said this is your office. When using other devices, does it actually ask for SSID, Username, and Password? If so, it is using WPA2 Enterprise, which is not supported by the EZ-B. If other devices connect with just SSID and Password, it should work, but it needs to be 802.11n or 802.11g backwards compatible (n is better, either will work).
If all your other devices are 802.11ac and the WiFi is set for 802.11ac only, it won't work. Note also: many 802.11ac routers have different SSIDs for the g/n network than for the ac network, so make sure you are using the right SSID.
MAC filtering is set in the WiFi router or AP, so you would need administrative access to check that.

Hi @deuel18 Please also try temporarily disconnecting your wired ethernet connection, and try to connect again. Your router might have a conflicting IP address with the EZ-B (192.168.1.1). We usually suggest to try client mode if you would still like to keep your wired connection.
good news my new hp sprout connects fine to ez-b's with wifi... yea lol
j
I was actually hoping to have the issue with my HP so that I could assist in trouble-shooting/testing but my Elitebook 2570P connected to my new Roli and Dev kit EZ-B's with no problem.

is this good? I have problems with wifi. I can not find the ez-b v4 in the ARC software. I have the instructie's result and came up on another page.
5)Open ARC and press the connect
thanks a lot @VGosine it works
best regards Robomicke

Hi @davidwlake
It looks like your PC has a Wireless LAN card with an RaLink chipset, unfortunately we have been seeing issues with this chipset. I would recommend using client mode with your PC.
@Jeremie
Your MAC address will be 00-07-80-01-XX-XX where the x's are the last digits of your ez-b's SSID.
Alternately, if you would like hook up via AP mode you could try a wireless USB dongle.

i was able to connect before but now I'm not able to connect with my desktop computer? should I try resting the EZB?
What changed from "Before" ? What's different ?
I just tried connecting with my old computer and it worked. I guess Ill just continue using the laptop. Thanks for the help. somethings wrong with my desktop connection. but no worries
I have a unique problem. I just bought an hp stream 7 tablet, and it is my only computer. It connects to my ezb network but when i hit connect on the ARC it says cannot connect to ezb. I've tried running the diagnostic report, but when i do it's blank and i get an error message. As such, i cannot post my diagnostic report in this reply. the ARC tells me this when it can't connect;
1/2/2015 2:21 PM - Attempting connection on 192.168.1.1:23 1/2/2015 2:21 PM - Comm Err: System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Receive(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size, SocketFlags socketFlags) at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.IO.Stream.ReadByte() at EZ_B.EZB.(Int32 , Byte[] ) 1/2/2015 2:21 PM - BbytesToExpect: 1 1/2/2015 2:21 PM - U Received: 1/2/2015 2:21 PM - Disconnected 1/2/2015 2:21 PM - Connection Failed: System.Exception: Controller Not Responding at EZ_B.EZB.Connect(String hostname, Int32 baudRate) 1/2/2015 2:21 PM - Disconnected
hopefully that will help, and hopefully somebody can help me
Looks like you have Avast installed, please try to disable it and try again. Avast has been a problem in the past.
I don't think I have avast though. I looked for the program or folder, and i don't see it anywhere.
@chrisg93 If you're saying you don't have avast installed and it shows in your application.. you may have a been infected by a fake version (malware) install.
Read the following Blog..
blog.avast.com/tag/fake-antivirus/
I would recommend using the following free tool to scan your system, you don't need to use the premium. it should removed the Avast semi-real AntiVirus application from your system.
www.malwarebytes.org/
Well, I downloaded malwarebytes and preformed a scan but it didn't find anything. I think the problem might be that my tablet is an HP. Are there any common problems with HP computers I could try to solve? I can connect to my ez-b network just fine, and when I try to connect to the board the indicator light remains on but the ARC tells me that the board isn't communicating.
Sorry Chrisg93,
Your HP has a Atheros WAN chipset, so it's fine.
I just connected to the network and made sure I waited till it was done connecting. unfortunately after making sure the default address was correct in the ARC, (which it was) I still recieve this error message from the ARC;
That is the old log, but the message was the same with the exception of the time stamps. I'm connecting to the network using only my tablet and no external plugs.
@Richard Correction, my wifi card is a RT5390, not the 3290. So 5390's work.
Cool thanks @JustinRatliff
We have been seeing issues with RT3290 and RT5370 chipsets mostly.
Sorry @Chrisg93 I mixed up your diagnostic info with the previous post from @nyapaysolo. I'm guessing @nyapaysolo had an issue due to Avast.
Could you post your diagnostic info? This should tell us if you have a RaLink WAN chipset.
It's in ARC -> project -> add controls -> general -> Diagnostic Report
Thanks!
I cant use the diagnostic report. When I try I get an error message talking about an unhandled exception and the report is blank.
I did check my device manager though, it says i have a Realtek RTL8723BS Wireless LAN 802.11n SDIO Network Adapter
Well, I turned off Windows firewall, windows defender, and windows smartscreen, but it still didn't work. Also i cant take a screenshot of the error message, but i will post it here;

You could always try using a USB WiFi dongle to troubleshoot whether it's the network adapter or something else blocking communication.
If you don't have a USB dongle you could try connecting via client mode as well.
Can you bring up the ez-b web server page (http://192.168.1.1) on your tablet? edit: When you are connected to the ez-b in default AP mode, of course
Yes, I can open the ezb server in client mode. I have considered getting a USB WiFi dongle as well, any suggestions on a good one that should work?
I was just reading a thread on the HP forums, some people have had WiFI issues with their tablets, some have fixed things with a USB dongle (plus OTG cable) others have just done a driver update using "HP Support Assistant" and had success as well.
I can recommend any of the following dongles that have been tested with the ez-b:
Edimax EW-7811Un Mercury MW150US TP-Link TL-WN725N TP-Link TL-WN823N LB-Link BL-WN2210
Note: Other dongles by LB-link have RaLink chipsets and don't work.
Okay, well I tried the ezb in client mode, and the green light on the ezb is flashing. However when I scanned the network, it didn't pick up any IP addresses.
unfortunately none of those dongles helped. i still get the board not communicating message
@Chrisg93... Might be time for a new PC then... Have you tried connecting on another PC? Family? Friends?
I'm going to try it on my friend's pc this weekend. That sucks, this is a brand new tablet that i bought specifically for my EZ B.
Hi @Chris93,
You may still be able to use your tablet, using another Windows computer will allow you to verify if the issue resides with your tablet or the ez-b.
Were you able to try updating your wireless drivers on the tablet?
@Chrisg93
This is a longshot, but what city are you located in? Maybe another forum participant would be able to meet you and help determine if the EZ-B is bad or if it is an issue with your computer (if you are in the DC/Baltimore megalopolis, I would be happy to do so).
Alan
well, I'm in a no name town called Ranger in north Georgia. If you know of anybody in that area that'd be great, but it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't. lol
Hey @Chrisg93,
Would you be able to power up the ez-bv4 and then use something sharp to press the reset button? Please listen for "resetting ez-b" voice and look for the red LED to light up (directly below the reset button). Here's a pic for reference:
This will confirm that the ez-bv4 main board is functioning correctly and the issue resides on the computer side rather than the ez-b side.
There is no red light and it doesn't say anything when I turn I on or reset it.
Well, there's the problem. You can't connect because the ez-bv4 main board has a issue, has it been this way ever since you received it? Did the sound ever work? If not, I'll get you to go through the warranty process.
No, it never did. I didn't realize it was supposed to untill yesterday.
Yeaaaaa, looks like @Chrisg93 is gettin a new EZB(4) controller.
Hi @Chris93,
Cool, please our product warranty section and reference this thread, thanks!
Since you haven't had a chance to complete some of our lessons, let me encourage you to go to the Learn section of our site to get more familiar with the way the ez-bv4 should function and operate, it's definitely very helpful when you are just starting out.
Hi I got my EZB4 (it's the first in my life), it's ok in AP mode but when i try to use client mode it is saying : unable to connect to this network, and red light blinking. my wifi has password. ssid = my office wifi name password = the wifi password is it right?
Yes that's correct. Make sure the SSID and passwords are correct and be aware that they are CaSe SeNsItIvE.
Also check mac filtering is not turned on or if it is that the EZ-B mac address is in the allow list.
Thanks Rich so SSID and pass is right bcz I can connect with other devices to this wifi about mac filtering.. I don't know how to check! tired
@alid,
You said this is your office.
Alan
Thanks Alan
About other devices, only SSID and pass is enough to connect. I gonna check with net engineer in my company and I'll right back here.

Hello @Foxybros
Looks like your computer has a Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter which should work fine.
Try disabling your McAfee anti-virus software.
According to a post by DJ in this thread: https://synthiam.com/Community/Questions/8685&page=3 The HP/Compaq issue was resolved by the vendor and should not impact new EZ-Bs.
