Your Input Needed To Name A New Category Of Robot Kit!

EZ-Robot will be releasing a new robot kit soon but I’m running into an issue naming the darn thing

I thought that there might be a clever naming convention for 3D printed robot kits by now but there doesn’t seem to be. There’s no clean and simple name for them that describes the niche well. This category needs a name that it can henceforth be referred to.

What we’ll be offering is the electronic and mechanical hardware bundled as a kit and we’ll provide the STL files for you to print the robot structure/chassis yourself.

The only naming convention for this type of kit I’ve found are variations of 3D printed robot kit or 3D printed DIY robot kit. It seems too long especially if you have to add more descriptive words to the name.

I’m looking for your input to help us come up with a clever acronym or short version name that can encapsulate this new category of robot kit that is 3D printed by the customer.

I’d appreciate any ideas you may have!

Hi Jeremie, Good morning. As a 3D printer user myself, I really think the category of a "3D Printed DYI" really does sum up what your trying accomplish. I don't see any other quicker way of saying it. From what I've encountered, just saying "3d printed" anything lites up peoples eyes in amazement when its talked about. I look forward to seeing what you guys are gonna come up with.

Looking at the ideas above, I think just keep it simple but also think about trademarks? Is this a brand name you are looking for or just a descriptor ?

Print Bot EZ-Print

Interested in your kit.  Are you looking at Interchangeable parts like EZ-Robot so you can build various Robots.  Robot Arms, Humanoids, etc?   How will sub components connect? Snap together with all electronic connections like clicbot or need wiring together like EZ-Robot? Is this going to use common off the shelf components (Servo's, Sensors, Microcomputer etc) or is this going to be custom components or a mix of both?  What software will this use (ARC or something else).  If ARC will you have a licence agreement or will we have to pay additional for ARC per user/ robot? Who is the target customer (students, adults, hobbyists etc) ?

Thanks Nink!

Yep just looking for something simple that everyone can use. We don’t need to trademark it, brand it, or anything like that.

Some parts will use the EZ-Robot clip n’ play system, but most won’t. Just good ol’ fashioned hardware (screws) into 3D printed plastic.

Target customers are students (junior high to university) and the DIY community.

The new products will include existing DIY EZ-Robot components with the addition of new DIY products.

Parts will be designed around EZ-Robot HDD servos (standard servo size) and the EZ-Robot micro servos.

All products will use the ARC Teams version (1 third-party skill available to use at a time), but there will be room for expansion. There will be an incentive to use ARC Pro version to push the limits and really explore what the products can do!

*Edit: Made a few adjustments since I wrote the original post on my cell phone :D

I really like Dave's "EZ Print-a-Kit"....it's catchy!

If it's not an "EZ Print-a-Kit", then it's not a proper Print-a-Kit.  xD

Lol @Nink I agree with @Dave that chatGPT does seem to get a little verbose at times. I also put my ideas into ChatGPT but I didn't seem to get too much remarkable out of it.

Some name ideas that it gave me were: MakerKit, Starter Kit, Build-your-own Robot kit, Research Kit, Prototyping Kit, DIY Kit

Your chatGPT seems to like "Kit" as being part of the name.
