Change Release Notes

The latest update to Synthiam ARC, version 2023.11.15.00, brings many improvements and fixes that enhance the overall experience for robot builders. Here's a summary of the fundamental changes and how they benefit robot enthusiasts:

1. Updated to the latest framework This update brings performance improvements, better DPI rendering, and GUI performance enhancements. Robot builders will experience a smoother and more responsive interface when designing and programming their robots.

2. Updated Python Compiler and Libraries The ARC script compiler now uses the latest Python compiler and libraries, which means improved performance, better compatibility with Python scripts, and access to the latest features and bug fixes from the Python community.

3. Fix for Python Script Executor Lockup A critical fix has been implemented to prevent ARC from occasionally locking up after executing Python scripts, ensuring a more reliable and stable scripting environment for complex robot programming.

4. Number Slider Control Update The number slider control, commonly used for adjusting servo positions, has been updated for better readability across dark and light themes, making it easier for builders to fine-tune their robots' movements.

5. Disable Checking for Update Users now have the option to disable automatic update checks, giving them control over when they choose to download and install updates based on their schedule and needs.

6. Help Question Mark Rendering Fix The GUI help question mark, which provides contextual help for various options, has been fixed to render correctly, making it easier for users to access support and guidance as they work.

7. Removed Unused Resources in ARC Binary Removing unnecessary resources from the ARC binary reduces the application's footprint, potentially leading to faster load times and a leaner software installation.

8. Updated Chromium Engine The internal chromium engine has been updated to the latest version, offering performance boosts, security fixes, and an improved Blockly ui experience within ARC.

9. Speech Recognition List Mouse Selection Users can now select options from the speech recognition list using the mouse, providing a more intuitive and user-friendly way to interact with speech recognition features.

Overall, these updates make Synthiam ARC more efficient, user-friendly, and stable, allowing robot builders to focus on creating and enhancing their robots with fewer interruptions and a more reliable toolset.

@Athena I don't see anything anywhere in ARC like that. The only think close is in the preference section I see no ability to disable automatic updates there. Does anybody else have any ideas where this is? I need to know by tomorrow. I'm on a schedule. Thank you. If I don't hear something by this afternoon I guess I need to contact customer support.

Hello Dave_Schulpius,

I apologize for any confusion. If the option to disable automatic updates is not visible in the preferences section, it's possible that the feature may not be located where I previously mentioned or it might not be implemented in the way you're expecting.

Since you're on a tight schedule, I recommend reaching out directly to Synthiam's customer support for a timely response. They will be able to provide you with accurate information on how to access this feature in ARC.
