We highly recommend updating this version to fix a Microsoft .Net memory leak that is causing performance issues with your robot.

  • Added new ControlCommand for HBridge (non-movement panel version). So each motor channel can be controlled individually.

  • Optimized resources for smaller memory footprint for SBCs

  • While optimizing memory for SBCs, we discovered a bug with Microsoft .Net that we had reported. Please read about it HERE. This bug was fixed with a work-around that we came up with. You will experience improved performance in ARC with this update.

Essentially, the bug with .Net is not disposing images from memory when no longer needed. This occurs in a specific case where the image is assigned from a resource rather than programmatically. It happens the most when the Add Control menu is displayed and closed. The memory consumption will continually rise due to the memory leak. The images will remain in memory, and new duplicate images will be loaded when the menu is displayed. Over one GB of ram can be consumed quickly by pressing the Add Control button a few times until it consumes all available ram.

Thank you! Your Optimized resources for smaller memory footprint for SBCs upgrade intrigues me. I'm looking forward to installing this.  I'm currently setting up an onboard Rock Pi X in my robot and am running it headless. I did follow your performance tips. Everything seems to be running smoothly so far. I haven't gotten to moving motors or Speech Recognition but light control and scripts that run when ADC readings change seems very quick and responsive.  I have one thing that seems odd. I have ARC set to load and run an INT script when Windows boots. While it only takes about a minuet or less for Windows 10 Pro to pop up it will take another minuet and 15 seconds for ARC to start and run the INT script.

I don't know, maybe even though Win looks like it's booted, maybe things are still loading before it will let ARC load?

Is it normal for ARC to load so slowly? Will this new update help with that? Any suggestions on getting ARC (and maybe Windows) to load faster?
