I have not yet upgraded to this version, still have yesterdays version,LOL! This is good though, as I just came looking for USB camera answers...I got My Samsung Galaxy S20 Phone/camera working great with USB connected to Latte Panda, surprised how high resolution I can go with Cell cam on the roomba and driving around on my big TV view! On trying to run Synthiam (Yesterday's version) The camera can run smooth at 640 X  360 in the ARC camera view with some slow down at color tracking(Still acceptable) Why can it run really high resolutions on just windows 10 on Panda but not in The Synthiam Arc? Is it the Panda CPU speed sharing with ARC causing the slow down? Would the same situation happen if I had ARC running on something like a crazy new AMD Ryzen 16 core computer? Anyway does not really matter, at 640 X 360 and all the cool tracking I can do in ARC using my Cell camera on the Roomba is just awesome! I will upgrade to this new ARC version from today and see if it helps any more as  , I also get a problem when disconnecting camera view in ARC it always shuts down ARC and need to re start it but if I just leave camera view on it will run scripts all day long, so minor bug is all.  I am using Android version of Iriun web cam version 2.6.1 which is a Tad faster than latest DroidCam app in google play store (also Win10 client on PC)

  1. what do you mean that you can’t run high resolution in arc? Is there an error?

  2. can you tell me more about disconnecting camera view shuts down arc? That shouldn’t happen and needs to be fixed. I’ll need to know what more you mean by that

I can't go higher than 640 X 360 with a smooth frame rate I should have clarified that, anything higher produces choppy delayed motion that you cant really drive the roomba around in real time if I have The Latte Panda onboard the Roomba and USB cable attached to my Samsung Phone/camera. could be just hardware on my end Latte Panda is not the newer Alpha but the 4 Gig Ram original and 64 Gig storage drive. If I turn off synthiam ARC and just wave the cell phone in my hand I can bring the camera resolution very high and there is no video slow down or choppy effect. So it could be since ARC is not on ,there is more CPU/Memory for the Panda to render smoother video...I did download the new Update on ARC just now and testing ,but that bug is there when I stop camera in Arc,it causes ARC to vanish and I need to restart it. I will try with the EZ cam and see if this happens but I dont think it will,I never noticed it doing that when it was on with the EZ Tiny controller. Possible my USB connection from Phone to Panda is not stable.

Had to edit that top part with resolution 640X360 runs smooth and stable ,even object tracking not too much slow down. ----So I hooked up EZ Tiny with EZ cam and using updated ARC that stop camera bug is gone works Flawlessly but at the Lower 320X240 resolution. seems only a bug when I use USB from my phone/cam,Iriun webcam driver, to Panda running Arc. Even that Camera driver could be a conflict there. I also tried Droidcam Android cam driver ,but worse slowdown and ARC was still needing to be reset after stopping camera.

I would have to say that overall it still works great on my New samsung phone ,the picture quality on this camera is so much better with color and object tracking,I will keep it the way it is now!

Sounds like the phone driver from samsung is broken.

You should be using a real usb camera and not a phone with a fudged broken driver:)

I know not really wanting to use it on robot,it is a thousand dollar phone that runs faster than my desktop 8 core computer! I would like to know what USB camera you can recommend for Arc? with smooth frame rates higher than 320X240 if possible?

Any camera that is USB will work with ARC. Just be cautious of buying no-name or unknown cameras on amazon, as some have terrible white balance or over saturation. Logitech is usually a good choice for cameras.

Your phone is unfortunately not faster than your 8 core intel cpu computer. Your phone runs 1 program at a time and therefore appears responsive. Phone programs are also very limited and don't do very much. Your phone is not a usb camera, even if the broken samsung driver thinks it is:). There's a conversation about ARM vs Intel here: https://synthiam.com/Community/Robots/ARC-and-Windows-on-Raspberry-Pi-4-20102

Ha ha yes I know, I was reading all that Arm Vs Intel but my pride in Financing a thousand dollar phone keeps me thinking it should be faster than my desktop,LOL!.. I was also looking at getting a 360 view camera "Go Pro" possibly so that I can see cool video in my Oculus Go video recordings.

360 video would be neat. When you publish 360 video on YouTube, people can use vr headsets to view it

#9

Yes that is what I do now watching other peoples 360 videos on youtube and some are 3D 360 as well,to do that I would need a really good 3d 360 cam.

I enjoy doing this too. I've been thinking about getting a 360 camera. Be fun for people to visit the work shop and look around.

ADAM  Savage made a fantastic 3d 360 in his workshop interactive, you could pick up stuff from the work bench and even throw them causing damage LOL! Was the coolest ever he had actual space suits hanging in there, all his home made weapons from the TV show....
